He is not responding by refuting the charges brought by the Swift Vets. He is attacking them and calling them names. Thats pretty much an indicator that what the Swift Vets are saying is, as Marissa Tomei said in My Cousin Vinny, "dead on balls accurate."
Its an industry term.
