Kerry Senior Advisor on Meet the Press Says Kerry Remembers Being in Cambodia X-Mas 1968
Meet the Press ^ | August 22, 2004 | Meet the Press

[Excerpt from full transcript. Russert is speaking with Tad Devine, Senior Adviser, Kerry-Edwards '04. -- ajf]

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5772535/

MR. RUSSERT: He didn't take office until January '69. Does Senator Kerry stand by that statement that on Christmas Eve of '68 he was physically in Cambodia?

MR. DEVINE: Right. Well, his memory, Tim, is being there, around there. And I'll tell you what happened on December 25th...

MR. RUSSERT: No--being there or around there?

MR. DEVINE: No, being right at the Cambodian border, over the Cambodian border. That's what he remembers. That's his clear memory. Now, Tim...

[end excerpt]

So according to Devine, Kerry remembers being "over the Cambodian border" on Christmas Eve of '68. It is Kerry's "clear memory" according to Devine.

Or were those nutty Vietnamese celebrating EASTERN ORTHODOX Christmas in January?

Agreed...and I believe that was the intent...and that it is pushing all of Kerry's buttons, which is generating a lot of attention, which in turn is getting more and more people to look at the info.

Well, that is conjecture IMHO...he was there, on the ground in Nam. It's what he did with that service and afterwards to this day that has markled him.

Tim, I distinctly remember crossing into Cambodia on 24 December 1968 for the specific purpose of picking out a Christmas Tree for the boat and transporting 2 CIA operatives to a meeting with the Tooth Fairy. When we saw Elmer Fudd chasing Bugs Bunny across a rice paddy I had my gunner open up on him with the .50. We received return fire from 3 monkeys armed with banana launchers, so we beached the boat and chased down Elmer and the monkeys with the inflatable CIA gunship that G. Gordon Liddy was piloting. These memories are seared in me like that cup of Wendy's Chili is seared in my bowels.

I think that Kerry and his shipmates must've bumped into ol' Santa Claus while he was on his way to deliver gifts to deserving Cambodian children. Santa obviously gave Kerry a generous quantity of the "magic dust" that enables the reindeer to fly (as described in the old Cheech & Chong recording).

The Kerry team needs to meet more often to try to keep their lies straight.

With all this from Kerry. I can see now why he has not stepped down from the senate.

Kerry: We were outside a food place. Actually, inside. Listening to the radio. Then all of a sudden this WWII plane drops from the sky and lands. Right in front of the restaurant. A guy jumps out. Could have been, yes, was, a NVA regular. Pulls a gun, and starts shootin holy hell out of the place. He just kept screamin, JAPS!!

Russert: Senator Kerry, that sounds a lot like a scene from a John Belushi movie...

Kerry: Yeah. Whatever.

Not that I want to help Kerry, but if I were he, the first thing that I would do is get rid of this snarling POS. He's a major turn-off. Tad Devine isn't.

One of the Kerry goons said tonight that his boat was fast enough to go to Cambodia. Ya can't help but laff at these poor saps. They weren't there, they haven't a clue, and they're trying to defend this dope. Hope he's paying them well.

One Toke Over the Cambodian Line

One toke over the line, John Kerry, One toke over the line;
Sittin' in Cambodia dodging Khmer fire, One toke over the line.
Waitin' for the boat that goes home, John Kerry,
Hopin' it don't hit a mine.
Sittin' in Cambodia dodging Khmer fire, One toke over the line.

Who do I love, I know its me;
I've never changed, as you can plainly see
I felt the joy and I avoided the pain And the voices said
if I got caught making up a report about me, Command would surely strike me dead
and now I'm...

One toke over the line, John Kerry, One toke over the line;
Sittin' in Cambodia dodging Khmer fire, One toke over the line.
Waitin' for the boat that goes home, John Kerry,
Hopin' it don't hit a mine.
Sittin' in Cambodia dodging Khmer fire, One toke over the line.

I sailed away a country mile
And now I'm returning and showing off my smile
I got all the medals and threw away a few,
And to my surprise
Like everything else that I've been through
I've accomplished it all with lies
And now I'm....

One toke over the line, John Kerry, One toke over the line;
Sittin' in Cambodia dodging Khmer fire, One toke over the line.
Waitin' for the boat that goes home, John Kerry,
Hopin' it don't hit a mine.
Sittin' in Cambodia dodging Khmer fire, One toke over the line.

I was born to take and take
But as I keep lying it's hard to keep them straight;
Sun is gonna set and the bird is gonna wing, they do not lie;
My last wish will be just one thing, I'm President before I die.

Page 48 of Unfit For Command slams the door shut! "At least three of the five crewmen on Kerry's PCF-44 boat-Bill Zaldonis,Steven Hatch,and Steve Gardner-deny that THEY or their BOAT were ever in Cambodia. The remaining two crewmen declined to be interviewed for this book". Could the remaining two possibly be on the Kerry tour?

ONE OF THESE??

"KERRY'S WAR RECORD: ENDING THE SPECULATION

Email Archives
Print Reprint

August 22, 2004 -- THE ISSUE: Questions about John Kerry's service record in the Vietnam War.
As Deborah Orin writes, it appears that Sen. John Kerry is back to doing what he does best — denigrating the veterans he claims are his brothers ("Kerry Camp Frets Over Cambodia Tale," Opinion, Aug. 20).

He did it in the 1970s and he's doing it again now.

Kerry can, at any time, stop the intense scrutiny of his military record. All he has to do is release his full military records for all of this to go away.

More importantly, though, why does a man who has a 20-year record in the Senate base his entire campaign on his military record of 35 years ago?
Katherine Dhalle
Rome

*****

Orin poses a reasonable question.

In most of the mainstream media, how come, "the 13 pro-Kerry vets are automatically assumed to have more credibility than 264 anti-Kerry vets?"

This phenomenon sounds familiar. It reminds me of the tiny group of highly politicized 9/11 families who have been elevated above the thousands of other relatives who may think differently.

It seems that if you're not a foaming-at-the-mouth, anti-Bush ranter, Saudi oil wells will pump neat Scotch before any traditional "news organization" deigns to call.
David Smitth
London, England

*****

Orin's right. If Kerry loses, the impact of bloggers will be the story of the election.
Elizabeth Coote
Ontario, Canada

*****

As Eric Fettmann relates, Sen. Tom Harkin has accused Dick Cheney of being a "coward" because he didn't fight in Vietnam ("Vietnam Isn't the Issue," Opinion, Aug. 19).

Harkin, however, despite his claims to the contrary, never served in combat in Vietnam either.

Harkin was based in Japan, as a Navy pilot, ferrying repaired planes from Japan to Saigon.
Brian Picardi
Brooklyn

*****

Vietnam-era military service is largely irrelevant to an election being held in this millennium.

It is merely one short line in the resume of a man applying for the position of president.

In 2004, we have a clear choice. One man is currently a successful, battle-tested commander-in-chief. The other served a brief four-month tour of duty 35 years ago.

In the thick of the War on Terror, President Bush wins hands down.
Gary Bouchard
Edison, N.J. "
