Alice Cooper: Anti-Bush acts treasonous morons
Worldnet Daily ^

Posted on 08/24/2004 1:26:47 PM PDT by PaulaB

Shock-rock legend Alice Cooper calls rock stars campaigning for Democrat John Kerry treasonous morons.

The 56-year-old Cooper says he was disgusted to learn the likes of Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, R.E.M., Sheryl Crow, James Taylor and Dave Matthews were hitting the road for a series of concerts designed to help defeat President Bush.

"To me, that's treason," Cooper told the Canadian Press. "I call it treason against rock 'n' roll because rock is the antithesis of politics. Rock should never be in bed with politics."

When I was a kid and my parents started talking about politics, I'd run to my room and put on the Rolling Stones as loud as I could. So when I see all these rock stars up there talking politics, it makes me sick.

"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal."

"Besides," he continued, "when I read the list of people who are supporting Kerry, if I wasn't already a Bush supporter, I would have immediately switched. Linda Ronstadt? Don Henley? Geez, that's a good reason right there to vote for Bush."

As WorldNetDaily previously reported, Linda Ronstadt was escorted off the property of a Las Vegas casino after publicly supporting Bush-bashing film director Michael Moore, and singer Don Henley was subsequently booed on stage in Orange County, Calif., for expressing support for Linda Ronstadt during one of his own concerts.

Cooper, whose real name is Vincent Damon Furnier, is reportedly a strong Republican who joins Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., at NBA games in Phoenix.

He continues his own summer rock tour, with upcoming dates in the Northeast, Canada, California and Las Vegas.

His dad is a minister. He is a very nice guy. I was waiting for my luggage at Burbank airport one time and he came up to me and just started chatting. I thought that was nice. He loves golf.

That's hilarious. I think kids nowadays listen to the same stuff their parents listened to. Rock and Roll is still Rock and Roll and it's GOOD STUFF. My parents on the other hand...well...Rock and Roll that I listened to couldn't be compared to Ed Aimes, Pat Boone and Glen Campbell...

ZZ Top. Wouldn't that be great!

Opening night could conclude with "Party on the Patio."

I went to ASU in 1971 and Alice was written up in the college paper as a "closet golfer" back then. At the time I thought that more than strange but, hey, it WAS Alice!

So ... why isn't he in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?!

Oh, I know ... because he's conservative.

Ohhhh Yyyeeahh! The Reverend Billy G is in the house tonight! It would send liberals screaming in convulsions. How dare the conservatives take Rock-N-Roll and have a politically good time? The lame stream media would lose it. I would love to hear Dan Blather's comentary on the event. Totally Awesome idea.

I picture like ten thousand people in Navy Blue clad suits, with bright Red Power Ties, wearing mirrored and dark shades head banging away, air guitar, raised fists, and all. It would be super cool.

My 15-year-old just read this post - and I'm responding for her.

She collects vinyl - we just bought her a new turntable for her birthday - she especially looks for Alice Cooper albums.

Springsteen's earlier Songs were a Celebration of the America we all Know & Love "Thunder Road, Rosalita, etc"

Then he "Got Rich," & got "Brainwashed" by the "Hollywood Elite."

He ALSO LOST HIS AUDIENCE.

How Sad.

Bruce was a GREAT "Narrator of" his Life & Culture; his "Forays" into "International Affairs" have been Sadly Ignorant & HEAVILY Influenced by his new "Hollywood Friends!"

Bruce expressed "Retail America" REALLY Well--he was an "EXCEPTIONAL" "Street Poet!!"

He is UTTERLY OUT Of His Depth in International Affairs.

He was SO GOOD, I Fervently Wish He would "Go Back to His Roots," & Talk to Us, Again, of the Culture he Knows so well.

The "Old Bruce" would be embarrassed to be associated with the "Kerry Campaign!"
