This article gives a good picture of what we can expect next week and why the Democrats fear it more than the Republicans.

The Ruckus Society has over the years been given $150,000 by the Turner Foundation, endowed by leftist Cable News Network (CNN) founder Ted Turner. Ruckus has also accepted more than $23,000 from the leftwing Tides Foundation, which has been given at least $400,000 by the Heinz Foundation, which is controlled by Teresa Heinz Kerry, who is the wife of 2004 Democratic Party presidential candidate Senator John F. Kerry. Money being fungible, it is reasonable to infer that some of the cash that has bankrolled Ruckus Society protests and the training of confrontational radical protestors at the 2000 and 2004 Republican National Conventions has come via the family of Democratic candidate John F. Kerry.

A rider IMO should be allowed to shoot ISD, any adult purposely attacking his horse to cause injury.

I wonder if PETA knows (or cares) that these idiots intend to hurt horses as part of their "protest".

protestors [have informed readers] how to set off sensors used to detect terrorist explosives and chemical weapons [with the obvious intent that thse things be done].This is a crime with potential to hurt people, like disabling smoke detectors and fire alarms in a theatre. I challenge the Attorney General to do the right thing, and nail these people for conspiracy.

These sites have provided anarchist cookbook recipes that tell protestors how to set off sensors used to detect terrorist explosives and chemical weapons. Such detectors sounding an alarm could cause panic, mass evacuations, a disrupted convention and the loss of scarce national television prime time for the Republican message. Since the Republican message is that democrats can't fight a war against terror, I'd say the dems lose either way.

I wonder if PETA knows (or cares) that these idiots intend to hurt horses as part of their "protest".PETA people are not deep thinkers; they'd probably blame the police for putting the horses in a dangerous situation.

I remember Ayn Rand describing Anarchy as a 'floating abstraction.' It took a long time to figure out what she meant.
These anarchists' methods and objectives provide a clue. They hope to create a state of general disorder that will serve to bring down civil society.
Such a state happened before when the Roman Empire collapsed. In the state of anarchy that followed, those with the most weapons -- and willingness to use them -- eventually established the next world order: the Dark Ages.
A state of anarchy can only be temporary -- that's what makes it a floating abstraction. It is a brief transition period like an explosion. What follows is always tyranny. Once again, the Left is showing that it is not 'progressive.' Every one of its various sub-objectives serves to deliver us to an Orwellian medieval period.
These Luddite 'monkey wrench' groups aspire to be amongst the barbarians who will be used to bring down Western civilization to pave the way toward a tyrannical Utopia.

As pissed off as this makes me, I can only say that I'm glad my business commitments will keep me out of New York as an 'anti-protester' next week. These are the BROWN SHIRTS of the Hitler era, reborn as the America's progressives. Brute force is the only way to deter them IMHO...

Gas and rubber bullets. What's the problem?
If they get really uppity, there's OC pepper balls and, better yet, pepper foam. Very nasty.
And that's all just for starters.

Good explanation, but there are always other factors at work to contribute to the vaccum of societal order.

The wire for the horses was in Philadelphia, where the park police routinely use horses for crowd control. Do they use them in New York as well?

I wish they had just taken the cruise ship as was talked about at first.
I guess I'm really naive because I just can't imagine people acting like this. I've see the occasional in your facers, mooners, and run of the mill malcontents but this is crazy.
To: Libertina
The ties between Kerry and the protesters need to be proclaimed and repeated until the press finally pick it up.
