We should support Bush but hold his feet to the fire on this issue and NOT support his proposal. The way to win this one is to fight it in the Congress.

Exactly.

The President needs Congress to pass this proposal. Congress needs US to get elected. The way I view this, The President is powerless to effect any change toward this recommended policy so long as we scare our Senators into the realization if they pass it, they are gone.

The way to fight this isn't through the President, but through Congress. About every policy we have disliked signed into law could have been prevented at a congressional level, we need to stop these measures before they can even reach the W.H.

BTW, my votes solidly in G.W.'s corner this year. I'm not interested in fighting these battles until after the election, it plays right into the Liberals hands. It isn't a coincidence that articles are appearing on the eve of the RNC convention about "fractures" from within. They want to destabilize support for this President that is far more vast and deep than Kerry's. I have no intention of aiding the Libs in defeating this President by helping to create a divide. The stakes in this election transcend even disagreement over border control which, imo, presents a greater threat to American cultural sovereignty than physical safety. The reality is that even with high walls we could never be fully secure in a world as technologically advanced as ours. The greater danger, again imo, is that the socialism of other world governments is brought across the border unchecked.
