New Zogby Investor Poll Bush 54% - Kerry 34% (Before Speech)
Zogby.com ^ | Sept 3, 2004 | John Zogby

Posted on 09/03/2004 10:50:10 PM PDT by america-rules

In tonight’s post RNC Convention episode of PBS’s Wall $treet Week with FORTUNE, Zogby will be interviewed by Karen Gibbs, W$WwF co-anchor, where he will announce that President Bush now has the advantage of a double-digit lead among self-identified Investor Class voters. Of those voters who identify themselves as owning stock, 54% say they would vote for Bush compared to 34% for Kerry’s 20 point difference.

More than 60% of American Blacks now own stocks.

So these new poll numbers are hyper-toxic for Democrats...

I'd love to see some comparison polls for this point in the elections of 2000, 1996, 1992.

I don't think these numbers will sustain, obviously, but I can't imagine them evaporating completely, either.

I don't think these numbers will sustain,

I think you are wrong on that. There seems to be a powerful determination to give Pres Bush a strong mandate and the better people know kerry, the less they like him. All factors working for the Pres and the swift men haven't even started round two yet.

I didn't even think of the next round in the Swift Wars. And definitely, the more people know Kerry, the less they like him--I can't believe how blind ALL media have been to that angle of the story. No one took that explanation for the lack of bounce from the Dem convention. (In fact, there is ample evidence already that Kerry's no-bounce was no anomaly, yet no one's talking as if this isn't a disaster in the making.) Some people--me included--have to examine the evidence, not just have someone else put it all together for them.

I don't think the convention bumped up Bush - the Russia school terror did it (cites other polls just out today not just this one). Americans are asking themselves - do we want Kerry as president while this is happening around the world and maybe one day at home?

How much of an increase is this from the last poll of investors done by Zogby?

I think its both. I think the Beslan terrorism added to the bounce that the RNC was already getting.

Didn't Zogby predict a Kerry landslide back in the spring? I bet the media downplays his poll results.

Yes in that they served as a one - two punch. But what I meant is that convention bounces come and go because people forget. They connected to the message of a resolute Bush as hell was breaking out in Russia by what every American but those at the press realize was an al-Qaeda attack on weak target.

After the Bush landslide, and Kerry loses California, New York, maybe even Massachusetts, the poor, confused Dems are going to go nuts. Then liberalism will wither away like the melting witch in the Wizard of Oz.

These are more specific than than Zogby's regular poll since this focuses on Investors. Does any one know the results of the last Zogby Investor's Poll? im interested in knowing how much of an increase this represents.

Oh how I wish liberals would all melt away but I know they won't.

I don't want to take anything from Senator Zell at all. I think he solidified the conservative/military base, without question.
IMHO, it was Ron Silver who initiated the cascade for the Bush bump for the several reasons:
The average, celebrity-culture, American may not know specifically who he is but can link a few adjectives to his name. Most people know he is an activist and he is not generally described as conservative. That being the case, this "anti-establishment" liberal is supporting President Bush, there must be good reason.
It's the "reasonable person" defense. It's what beat Dukakis (beside the dopey helmet photo), the question about his wife being raped and his delayed reaction and his "let the system work" response. It just didn't click.
Mr. Silver's passion, his reputation and his honesty spoke volumes for President Bush.
