I know someone who saw one of these over Phoenix a few years back. It scared the crap out of her.
I think they're just Air Force projects.

the Phoenix lights thing was pretty strange ... why nobody flew up for a closer look, even a private pilot, seems strange. If they did I never heard about it. There were up there for some period of time holding formation. It couldn't have been candles on x sticks lifting clear laundry bags. They wouldn't have stayed in formation at any altitude for any length of time. That *was* pretty strange but I thought this article was funny.
That's what I think too. I saw one a couple months ago & I almost ran off the interstate!
