Also...

this story is evolving outside the mainstream media...

Notice that Brinkley wasn't talking to the MSM...but he spoke to talk radio via Malzberg's show.

Then it went to the internet via WorldNet.com and NewsMax.com/ and here...

it will be surely be on Drudge, Rush and/or Hannity shortly.

Here's a nightmarish thought: Kerry is elected and only then does the Navy investigation establish Kerry's fraud.

Is Brinkley trying to salvage his own credibility instead of falling on his sword to protect JFK?

Does Brinkley really think this will benefit him in the long run? Bush haters will remember what he did, and they will punish him for it. Leftist academics can be very, very petty.

You have to wonder if the addition of all the Clinton people to the campaign is a sign that Hillary is coming.

Brinkley wants out altogether...He's shilling for himself in that he knows he left out stuff in his book and is just trying to get out of this without further stinking himself up...

Remember earlier when the MSM was on his butt he basically told them to go ask Kerry.

"Leftist academics can be very, very petty"

That's exactly it...so Brinkley wants to get out of the whole mess right now without further damage to his rep...

Releasing his Navy records could derail the Swiftees if Kerry is telling the truth -- The media would see to it.

Why wouldn't a man with the truth on his side release this info? What's in there that's so damaging?

That's why I'm not worried that the Swiftees are lying--or else why would Kerry hem and haw so mucha bout releasing his records? It'd be very peculiar behavior (even coming from someone like Kerry) for someone who's telling the truth to have this drag on when he has the choice of putting it to rest.

If kerry has nothing to worry about, and a Navy investigation would clear him, then the kerry campaign should join Judicial Watch in the request for an investigation. They should also request that the investigation be completed before Nov. 2nd so kerry would benefit from the results.

This leaves out, though it was part of JW's information filing, that Kerry was also claiming/showing FOUR bronze campaign stars on his Vietnam Campaign Medal, when he only took part in two official Campaigns.

Adding three awards might be more important to the Navy than the 'V' addition to his Silver Star.

In the past, Kerry has said he could not release some documents because of contractual obligations to Douglas Brinkley, author of "Tour of Duty." Brinkley said he has no contractual claims to any of the papers.

As one ex Squid in my office would say "Rut-Ro". :) :) :)

Suppose Brinkley feels about like one of Slick's Bimbos about now? Used, soiled and thrown away.

Don't know. I seem to recall that there was some "delay".

I think he was in on the scam, and just ground out a quickie puff piece to satisfy the kerry campaign machine.

Can we freepers start an e-mail campaign to the right people in the U.S. Navy pressing on for the investigation being start right away???

I'm sure the Squids are plenty motivated. By Kerry's 1971 lies, by his early 90s sweeping of the POW issue under the rug, and by his continued lies this year. If there is an investigation, you can bet if the Navy has anything to say about it, it will be pursued quickly and vigorously.

Did Kerry negotiate with the Vietnamese in Paris? Did Kerry violate the UCMJ?

Yes, and No. But No only because as an inactive (non-drilling) reservist he was never subject to the UCMJ after his 1970 release from active duty.

UNLESS, one is speaking of UCMJ violations that occured before he was released from active duty, or that release itself was fraudulent. In that case, he would still be subject to trial under the UCMJ, providing the statute of limitations hasn't expired.

Yes, I think this is a BIG problem for Johnny (Legend in his own mind) Kerry. He can't release all the documents because I'll bet they contain scathing criticism of his constant refusal to follow orders in Vietnam (along with other scathing criticim). So now he has to invent another lie as an excuse to not release the records. Oh this is getting really good. I'm still not expecting a Bush landslide, but if this stuff keeps up we might see a landslide win for GWB. Wouldn't that be great if Daschle and Boxer were swept out of the Senate in a Bush landslide.
