MILWAUKEE For the traveling media charged with tracking John Kerry's every move, it was the rarest of events an actual candidate sighting. Up close.
For more than a month, the Democratic nominee for president has not held a news conference, preferring instead carefully staged events aimed at keeping Mr. Kerry "on message" rather than on subjects that reporters might want to talk about.
So when the candidate emerged Monday night in the media section of the campaign plane, it was almost a news event.
Reporters leapt from their seats and crowded around him, straining to hear over the low roar of jet engines. Mr. Kerry stood in the middle of the aisle, in a glare of television lights, his teeth blazing, his hair crystalline gray.

From the glowing physical description is sounds as though the author may have a thing for Mr. Kerry ... but since I lost the original memo that proved it, and all I have are some old copies, I won't name names...

Did anyone ask him the Cambodia question?
Yeah baby must have been a real newsworthy item. Notice how many questions were asked and the answers were quoted.
Why don't they just put on bibs and have their name tags changed to "monica".

For the Dallas Morning News, it was amazingly sarcastic and critical of Kerry.
After he said, "kerry talked," he said, "What about?"
Well, nothing, really. Baseball, for one thing.
Yeah, Kerry is a huge sports fan, that's for sure.
He had one paragraph talking about Bush being similarly quiet during rough spots in the 2000 campaign but, on the whole, the article showed a real contempt for Kerry among journalists who naturally lean in his direction.
The Dallas News has shown occasional (but rare) flashes of fairness lately.
Good.. his little chat with Mullah Don Imus gave him courage..
