Or if some things came through heavily redacted, or if they believed the Pentagon were holding back some documents. I would assume they would need at least some evidence to support this claim for the judge to act on it. Judges may do silly things sometimes, but rarely do they do something that's outright stupid or without a reasonable amount of support. Why? No judge likes to be overturned.

I believe a first appeal of a rejection has to be made to whoever's named in the appropriate FOIA provisions. If it's gotten to court, this must have been going on for a while.
