I is all about the medals
Sound bytes of Kerry back and forth...medals...not metals...ribbons...metals....
Really rocks!
You're missing it!
The previous ad, #4 - MEDALS,
http://swift3.he.net/~swift3/medals.wmv
was a perfect setup for the new one!
#4 had established that the symbols of a country, its flag, military, medals, etc. represent the values we hold dear.
Introducing the new video, #5 - DAZED AND CONFUSED,
http://swift3.he.net/~swift3/dazed.wmv
where Al-Qaery in his own words is both denying/admitting he threw away medals in an adroit editing job of classic flipping and flopping. But even then, Al-Qaery admits that regardless he was renouncing the symbols of his country, and that he's proud of it!
Kerry 2004: I have been accurate precisely about what took place...
Kerry 1971: We renounced the symbols...
Kerry 2004: I through my ribbons over...
Kerry 1971: I gave back, I can't remember... 6...
Kerry 2004: ribbons...
Kerry 1971: 7, 8...
Kerry 2004: and took the ribbons...
Kerry 1971: 9...
Kerry 2004: I didn't have my medals
Kerry 1971: and that was the medals themselves
Kerry 2004: that is absolutely incorrect. Medals, Ribbons... we threw away the symbols of what are country gave us... and I am proud of that.
John Kerry, can you trust anything he says.

Oops, IT is, not I is...LOL
He says he threw away his ribbons, but kept his medals. In the testimony, he says he threw away his medals. Meaningful difference is notable, not just a matter of semantics.
WOW. I can see the next ad. If I am correct that the Lehman signatures on Kerry's medal citations are not only not only for replacement citations, but also, replacement medals, Kerry is cooked. I really do believe that he threw away his medals in 1971.

I most certainly agree.
Isn't there a picture Some where showing those metals hanging on the wall in John's senate Office.
I read that he had them displayed?
ANYONE?
"gravitas" ? That over-worked description went out with Al Gore.
Thanks, hoomama. :) I'm sure that's probably what it is. I've been able to get the other ads; will try this one later.
Thanks, Sync. I'll get it eventually, I'm sure. :)

I believe this story was contained the the Boston Globe series about Kerry, but yes he did and does have his medals prominently displayed in his Senate Office.
We now have copies of the replacement medal certificates (including new ones for the PHs), thanks to Judicial Watch. It is interesting that the certificates were signed in June 1985, so he must have started the process almost immediately after he took office in January 1985. I guess he wanted to decorate his office quickly, which he did based on reports that visitors have seen the medals displayed prominently in his office.
I disagree. It highlights Kerry's recent attempt to draw a torturous distinction between medals and ribbons and sympbols. It makes it clear that the nitpicking was being done by Monsieur Kerry and the average person will ask "why".
It is plain as day that the Kerry of recent days was trying to distance himself from his actions from years ago and this ad serves up the issue to viewers so they can see that for themselves. It's quite stark and effective.
The first ad, as has been pointed out, laid the groundwork for the meaning of these awards and Kerry's frame of mind back then, far from the picture he's been painting of himself as super soldier/super patriot.
If you can't see the deliberate "lie" in this ad, time to find a german shepherd to lead you around.
The only line in the ad that's even slightly effective is hearing Kerry say he renounced his country's symbols and he's proud of it. I don't think it stands out amidst the clutter.
Question: What do you say to a guy with two black eyes,a busted jaw and a broken nose?
Answer: Bend over, Kerry...Here comes the big one!! LOL
