it seems to me, i remember some top guy at 60 minutes bragging that he got bill clinton elected (the first time) by editing clinton's 60 minutes interview ("i have made mistakes in my marriage") to make clinton look good.

You remember right, I recall the very same comment, and it is true. Bill and Hillary would both be serving time were it not for the media. Al Gore would have conceded after the automatic recount, etc. etc. etc.
