Web can turn everybody into a contributor (BUCKHEAD LEGEND LIVES ON)

The worst thing anyone can say is that they don’t have anything to contribute or anything to say — especially in this day and age of the Internet.

The Internet is the people’s printing press, the place where people can have their say, can influence what’s going on no matter what side they’re on. That’s what happened with the memos CBS used in a report on George Bush’s service in the National Guard.

SNIP

According to a report on The Weekly Standard (www.theweeklystandard.com), the blogs are the reason that doubts about these documents spread so fast. A mere four hours after the CBS report, a blogger by the name of Buckhead began wondering about the fonts and spacing of the memos supposedly typed by Bush’s National Guard commander and “newly obtained” by 60 Minutes. In an e-mail to The Weekly Standard, Buckhead didn’t claim credit for his insight, saying that the Internet is a “big place, and I can’t believe that other people didn’t notice the same thing around the same time.”

SNIP

You can be one, too. Just go to www.google.com and search for blogging. You’ll find sites that’ll tell you how to start a blog. And, who knows? Maybe your particular expertise, whatever it may be, will be called upon in the future to help debunk a news story. It can happen to the most modest person. The Bush memos prove that.

All because some bloggers began to raise questions.

According to stories in basically every major media outlet there is, Buckhead's been sending e-mails to them saying almost the exact same thing. You reckon it's just a form letter?

I have a particular, perhaps singular, expertise in the migratory patterns of the Jungle Nymph (Heteropteryx dilatata) in the remote northwest of Scotland during the 15th century.

I wonder if I ever have a chance to attain blogosphere prominence with this esoteric knowledge like Buckhead has.

'Buckhead' is funny, but it's too bad his name wasn't something like 'Jack Mehoffer.' That woulda been a riot.

No, we have a lot of lurkers and they are harmless. The worst thing you can say about someone is that they are trolling (wasting our time to get attention).

Yes Little Freephopper, unlike the article above that suggest Just go to www.google.com and search for blogging.

Little Freehopper you will need much patience and time searching on the world wide web, because sometimes Google can be..well....very limiting in scope and vision.

My wife and I were joking about the image people around the country (world) would have of "Buckhead" from his name. We could imagine people hostile to his actions portraying him as a male deer with antlers...:o)

Should anyone ask you, Buckhead is an upscale neighborhood in Atlanta. Some would say even nicer than "upscale".

So, banish any visions of a hunter's trophy over the fireplace. As dear to us as Buckhead may be, he ain't no deer. :-)

A thought that occurred as I was typing the above: Has anyone considered FREEPERS establishing an annual (or whenever the occasion warrants)"Buckhead Award" to online people who have contributed to the expansion of knowledge, exposure of left wing people and plots, or making it possible for "average, non-partisan" people to see the light of liberal betrayal...

Had some award of this nature existed in past years "Alamo Girl" would have been a prime candidate. She was an earlier, unsung, Free Republic heroine during the Clinton administration.
