Today, while on the road, my wife and I were listening around 9:20 a.m to 98.9 out of Austin, a radio station with Spanish-language programming. The host, "Javier", was talking with a call-in "guest" named "Arturo". Arturo made a comment about Ronald Reagan and his illegal alien amnesty and then said that Hispanics have become "worse off" under Republican leadership. He distinctly made the point that in spite of Reagan's amnesty, Hispanics were "worse off" under Bush.
The sad fact is that this radio station constantly mocks and makes fun of Americans but is never called on it because the clientele listening are almost completely Mexican nationals who would be in agreement with that philosophy. Sometimes, the commentary is rather blunt and might be in poor taste by broadcasting standards. However, since regulatory officials apparently are not bilingual, nothing is ever done.
Make that "makes inflammatory comment". Some of us need to start documenting what these Spanish-language stations say that is derogatory towards the U.S. and let officials know what is going on. Some of the things they say, if people understood, would start a riot.
Because neither party cares about our out-of-control borders, who knows, they may be right.
it is austin .... who knows what any one thinks there....
No real surprise since you're talking about Austin, also known as Berserkly on the Colorado.
Here is some contact info for KHHL. I assume this is the station, the frequency and the locale are corrct, anyway.

It's sad that we allow this "open door border" to continue. We need a lockdown, both north & south. But we are afraid we might "offend" someone...uh wait a minute, isn't that what this station is doing????
I speak Spanish and despite my nick I am gringo through and through, believe it or not. I listen to the local Spanish language TV station here, ( Univision. ) I call them the Dan Rather of Hispanics. They say some awful things about this country.....just as the MSM does.
In this part of the country, ( TX, ) an acquaintance of mine started a salsa music station. Salsa music has its roots in Cuba, Puerto Rico and New York.
Don't you know that a Mexican Chamber of Commerce filed suit against this new station because the music was not Mexican? They won their suit and the station can still transmit but at a much reduced wattage as to make it almost dead anyway.
That's the kind of people we are dealing with here. They don't even want "other" Hispanic music here because it would cause "Mexicans" to lose their "native culture."
Amazing comments. I am surprised that did not make national news. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.
I know a lot of Hispanics too. The ones who are conservative are usually first, second, third, etc. generations. Not all Hispanics are the same. There are Mexicans, Nicaraguans, Salvadorians, Puerto Ricans, Argentines, and Chileans.
Good post. Didn't have time to dig that up yesterday. And, yes, I find it VERY offensive.

Right on track. I have to keep the information that I post limited for some specific reasons. This is a wakeup call to local bilinguals to "listen" to what is going on and for the government to "pay attention" to what is going on. For now, that's all I can do.
I was listening to one radio show yesterday where the caller to the show was making fun of Mexicans who live in the USA and speak English and become like Americans. You could tell there is a lot of hatred in some for the American way of life and our culture. He praised those who remain "Mexicans".
You're right --- people should know what things are being said --- it's very interesting to pass yourself off as someone who doesn't understand a word in Spanish -- and just listen to the converstations --- what kinds of things get said --- "pinche gringo" is quite common --- even in the work place.
That's here too --- I was at a wedding reception --- a fight almost broke out because the DJ was playing non-Mexican Spanish music --- meringues and pachangas --- which was what the bride's side who was paying wanted --- but the groom's side was tough --- and they won out so it turned into rancheras.
Furthermore, if anglos began making fun of Hispanics the way those announcers do to U.S. folks, we would have Hispanics rioting in the streets. Funny, they can do it, but we can't. If you knew more of what was going out over the air, you would not have made your sanctimonious reply. When I find a mentor to pay my bills for a few years, I'll tell all of you EVERYTHING they're doing to game the system and mock and make fun of you. Can't do it right now as I would be left with not a penny to pay my bills. Back off.
Imagine an English-speaking station filing suit because the language used is not English! The liberals are told all of this "discrimination" is going on and they stick their fingers in their ears and say LA LA LA LA LA as loud as possible.
I listen to that station all the time. I am a legal resident. What upsets you the most that he said what he thought? Or that he thinks that way? Let me just tell you there are a lot of people who feel that way, I am one of them.
I do not support everything they say, but they should not be "monitured". It's really very simple do not listen to the radio station.
The "Fairness Doctrine" was repealed in the 80's, which is what allowed people like Rush Limbaugh to finally gain a foothold. When stations no longer had to present equal time for opposing views, they could program all kinds of political content without having to worry about who they would get to represent the other side for another three hours.
*sniff*
