i just want to point out, because people on this thread keep mentioning New York: this did not take place in NYC. they don't call them the Metro police and i don't think there is a wheaton station in NY.
people who talk back to police officers are asking for it. even if a p.o. is wrong, i wouldn't talk back. the cop was probably told to clamp down on yelling and cursing. i suspect it was department policy, because things were probably getting out of control on the transit system.
NYC did clamp down on people like the "squeegie guys" etc., and it has become safer in NYC.
i think the idea of cops telling people to quiet down if they are cursing loudly is probably a good idea in a large city, but may not be necessary in the country.

Sakinah

I'll bet when her husband and the expectant father of her child was notified he was plenty mad.

Wonder why her mother would name her something like this? It's a wonder she wasn't suspected of being an islamic terrorist.

In the good ol' days, if a woman put herself in the place of a man, she got recompensed treatment as she gave. Too bad he couldn't have backhanded her one across her filthy lips.

The cop had every right to ask her to tone it down. He had no right to tackle her for her non-compliance... He should have written her a ticket, and then if she was still non-compliant made a peaceful attempt to arrest her. If she resisted arrest, then and only then should he have used this type of force.

As a daily DC METRO rider, I can tell you that this comes as no surprise. In fact, I wish they'd start cracking down more on the obnoxious jackasses on the trains! I don't care if the woman's pregnant or not; you're in public - you act like a human being or suffer the consequences.

This beligerant behavior is much more prevalent on the DC and Maryland side of the METRO rail system. Cross over into Virginia and it's like night and day. About the worst I've ever seen in Virginia is the occasional self-absorbed, self-important "metrofessional" who feels compelled to let the whole world know how essential his cell call is to our way of life by boistrously elaborating on the minute details of his critical exchange.

I don't give a rat's ass how many damn powerpoint slides it took for you to show the exact crux of the issue, whizbang! SHUT UP, already!

Usually a few sighs and dirty looks do the trick and he'll tone it down. On the other side of the river, however...say anything at all and it's just another case of "the man" trying to hold 'em down again.

Sounds the same as the assistant chief here who was going to have a mother arrested for running her generator after going without power for 12 days due to the hurricane. Another abuse of power by low IQ people who should not be in the police force, and give the great (99.8%) policemen bad names.
