Iraq - Kerry’s Credibility Crisis

There may be all of two people in America that believe John Kerry has a coherent strategy in Iraq.

There are 25 million people in Iraq who know George Bush does.

But when John Kerry begins to attack the leader of one of our infant allies you have to wonder if he may not change the minds of those who still support him.

Yesterday in one of the strangest turns in foreign relations, Kerry went on the attack against the newly democratically chosen leader of Iraq - Iyad Allawi. And what was the reason for this scurrilous verbal drilling? Simply put - Allawi went before a joint session of Congress to say "Thank You" to the American people for liberating his country.

Allawi said in his matter of fact and heavily accented English, "We Iraqis know that Americans have made and continue to make enormous sacrifices to liberate Iraq, to assure Iraq's freedom," Allawi said. "I have come here to thank you and to promise you that your sacrifices are not in vain."

He also cited the numbers that can not fully quantify the pain Iraq knew under Saddam Hussein.

"More than one million killed or mission, mass graves of more than 300,000 that stand as memorials...Today, we are better off, you are better off, the world is better off without Saddam Hussein."

He added, "Your decision to go into Iraq was not an easy one, but it was the right one."

How did John Kerry - the man who wishes to lead the War on Terror and manage the conflict in Iraq - respond to the demonstrations of gratitude by Iraq? He labeled them liars of course.

Only minutes following Allawi's speech from the campaign trail Kerry said, "I think the prime minister is obviously contradicting his own statement of a few days ago, where he said the terrorists are pouring into the country. The prime minister and the president are here obviously to put their best face on the policy, but the fact is that the CIA estimates, the reporting, the ground operations and the troops all tell a different story."

Since CIA estimates were so good on WMD's - not much more needs to be said. To what reporting is Kerry referring to - The New York Times? CNN? CBS? What troops is Kerry referring to - and how many active duty troops in Iraq has Kerry even talked to?

I've spoken personally to more than a dozen. I have relatives, friends, and neighbors who are there now. None of them make the appeal that everything is perfect -- but they understand their purpose there, and they are proud to be protecting America by fighting the terrorists there -- not here.

And how about those ground reports! Isn't it Kerry who missed 90% of his Senate votes this year, passed on 39 of 48 meetings while sitting on the intelligence committee, and rejected the offer of the Pentagon to keep him briefed on the latest threat warnings following the big arrests in Pakistan late this summer? I guess that date with Whoopie was just too much to pass up.

In fact when did John Kerry even step foot into Iraq since the War on Terror began?

Remember President Bush on Thanksgiving Day?

Enough said.

The truth is Mr. Allawi knows much more about the scorecard on the terrorists that plague his country and appreciates much more than Senator Kerry does the effort being made by the United States to route them out.

Allawi promised the elections will happen in January and says that they could be held today even - in 15 of 18 provinces. Remember what the democrats were saying about the "handover of sovereignty." They continually carped about how it wouldn't be able to happen on time. It happened three days early. I predict something similar with the elections.

The truth is Senator Kerry desires Iraq to get worse; it's his only ticket to the White House. And if he can't even acknowledge Iraq 's gratitude with the tiniest smidge of class and grace - how will he be able to work with them after he is elected President.

John Kerry was an international embarrassment in reacting to Allawi as he did.

So let me say to Prime Minister Allawi what Kerry couldn't, "Sir you are most certainly welcome. And we pray for the success of your country as it continues to fight for the freedom that God has granted it!"

Again Kerry is undermining America's effort in a war. "Here he goes again". First it was in Viet Nam, now it's Iraq. As least he's consistent. Consistently a TRAITOR to his country, and our military forces currently in harm's way. Couldn't his statement be considered "Aid and Comfort" to the enemy???

All along the Watch Tower
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl
