Jeez, I guess that Michael Moore has made good on his promise and left for a "more friendly" country.

They're making a Bill Clinton movie?

The leftwingers compare Bush to Hitler. I guess they think Hitler wasn't so bad afterall.

Hitler didn't smoke, was a vegetarian as was all for state control of the economy so Hollywood would naturally generally like him...

The pervasive practice of showing Hitler as some kind of non-human, one-dimensional, robot of evil has caused most people to view him as some sort of cliché and cardboard cutout belched from the depths of hell.
When, in fact he was a three-dimensional human being.
The article does not say that the film shows Hitler in a flattering, positive light; just that this film does not portray him as a series of tired stereotypes.
As a history geek, I think that's a good thing.

It has gotten mixed reviews from German historians, mostly because some feel it does not provide enough context. Apparently it is very exacting in details and people who actually knew Hitler say Bruno Ganz's performance is frighteningly realistic.

"When, in fact he was a three-dimensional human being."
And a complete waste of skin.
Yes, he was indeed three-dimensional, but not by much. By and large, he is generally understood by historian and by those who knew him to be quite single-minded in his psychosis. It's hard for a man to be be much more than than an embossing when your evil presses him flat.
"Humanizing" him is quite nuanced, though. :(

LOL. There you go, what's not for Hollywood to like?...
And the book-burnings will be a hit with that crowd (your Kelsey Grammer's and Gary Sinise's and others not withstanding) because only those 'hateful' conservative books will be burned while the latest tell-all or autobio will be enshrined in every mansion.

My point is that by painting a picture of Hitler, and then endowing that picture with 100% pure evil--and nothing else--we enhance the possibility that someone like him could once again wield such power and commit such crimes against humanity.
No matter how horrible someone is, no matter what monsterous deeds they commit or promise to commit, they will pale in comparison to the cliche-ridden stereotype we have created out of Hitler.
That is pretty dangerous in a world so astonishingly ignorant of history as our own.
