Fast used as a scapegoat, says former fort commander
Sierra Vista Herald, Sierra Vista Arizona ^ | 9/28/04 | Bill Hess

SIERRA VISTA - Maj. Gen. Barbara Fast is being made a scapegoat by some of the nation's most senior civilian and military leaders by their refusal to let her take command of the Intelligence Center and Fort Huachuca, a retired Army lieutenant general said.

To Claudia Kennedy, who retired in 2000 as the Army's senior intelligence officer, Fast "is a fantastic, great leader."

The talents of Fast, who returned to Fort Huachuca on July 30, is being lost because the Army is afraid to let her take command of the center and fort, even though the two-star was previously named to the position, Kennedy said Monday, after speaking at an event supporting Democrat John Kerry's run for president.

Not having an active-duty major general in command of the center and the fort is giving a wrong message to the intelligence community that the officers, warrant officers, noncommissioned officers, junior enlisted soldiers and civilians are not important.

Wrong ever hear of Abu-Gharhib General? Fast has to be cleared before she can actually assume her duties. Sheesh!

BTW what the printed paper has that the online doesn't have is that Claudia came to town to campaign for Kerry.

Karpinski was definitely a poor officer. She seems to have been the incompetent commander who let things get out of hand at Abu Ghraib. I don't know anything about Fast. But regretably any female general officer suffers from the suspicion that she may have been given rapid promotion by the clintonoids purely for affirmative action purposes.

To true! This is the problem with affirmative action.

Claudia Kennedy, who retired in 2000 as the Army's senior intelligence officer . . .

She was also Clinton's 3-star prostitute who oversaw a serious degradation of military intelligence capability. At a minimum, her Crowe, McPeak, Shack villi, and Clarke should be tried for dereliction of duty. However, their activities while in uniform, border on treason.

When she retired (got a stiff neck from the breeze of being passed over for 4 stars) she went onto the Girl Scout National Board and managed to get God taken out of the Oath for them and get Planned Parenthood in for "gender training" down to elementary school level.

What you don't know is that claudia kennedy was promoted to 3 star and then went on a tour of all the army bases to cram political correctness down our throat.

She gave a presentation entitled "Consideration of Others" at all major army installations. We were forced to attend and gagged.

Here you have a runt, 5'3" female general in BDU's and combat boots telling infantry soldiers about being considerate of others. Only in the Klintoon administration of course.

Thanks, SandRat.

Sometimes a simple, clear issue like this blows the enemy smoke and mirrors away.

I needed it tonight.

I'm acquainted with Barb Fast. I've worked for her as a soldier and as a contractor. She was not promoted out of political considerations. She is one of the few senior MI officers I've dealt with that is competent with details, decisive and not a micromanager. Nobody's perfect but you won't do much better than Barb Fast.

I take you at your word that she is a good leader. However, as we all know, at the senior level, nuance, timing, and political connections are extremely important. Her association with the Abu Gharib prison has tainted her. Rightly or wrongly, she will never go any further.

I know there must be some good women general officers. Claudia Kennedy was another lousy choice for promotion, but I'll take your word on Fast.

COL Pappas (sp?) was the Bn Cdr directly responsible for MI soldiers at Abu Ghraib. He is definitely taking a fall over this and MG Fast has yet to be fully cleared.

The comment that this is likely her last command is spot on, and that's a shame because, like Sue Browning, Barb Fast is one of the good female soldiers in the MI Corps.

I think Col P is being tossed to sleep with the fishes and that the real perp of command interference and incompetence is BG Karpinski. Heck she even doesn't remember the Yamashita Precedent and is trying to lay the blame on everyone else. The report even said she never left her own compound if rarely and enforced no discipline to even retain the semblance of it being an Army Command.

You and I both know our opinion of an officer who blames everyone else for their own problems.

She (Karpinski) doesn't care who else goes down, as long as she isn't alone.

Lieutenant General Claudia J. Kennedy

Lt. General Claudia J. Kennedy, is the first and only woman to ever receive this flag rank in the United States Army.

So, big yippee skip if "Aunt Claudia" was first!

Aunt Claudia was the most political MI general since Uncle Sidney Weinstein was DCSINT in the 80's. Aunt Claudia was worse, because she was promoted purely out of ideological compatability - she was a Clinton whore, plain and simple.

MG Fast, who has commanded universal respect from the spooks, is being hung out to dry. And the only reason that they're doing this, is bacause The Left can't run Abu Ghraib all the way up the chain to the White House.

She was promoted by the Bush administration. What does that say about them?
