Perhaps Sen. John Kerry does have an advantage after all over President Bush in understanding the complex political issues of the Middle East.
New research by Burke's Peerage reveals that Mr. Kerry is the only presidential candidate in U.S. history who has genealogical descent from Muslims, Jews and Christians.
"Senator Kerry ... is a virtual walking United Nations," says Harold Brooks-Baker, publishing director of Burke's.
Mr. Kerry is kinsman of the Shi'ite shahs of Persia (the most famous was Shah Abbas I, who reigned from 1587 to 1629), as well as the Muslim kings of Tunisia, all of whom — Democratic presidential nominee included — descend from the prophet Muhammad.

His grandfather was Jewish and named Kohn; when he emigrated to America he changed his name to Kerry and also changed his religion to Catholic. The grandson also seems to change when it is in his best interest.
No, Irish is the only component he is missing.
He's Muslim, Christian, and Jewish. With any luck he'll strap on a bomb and blow up the Jewish and Christian 2/3 of himself.
Of course, that would leave just the Muslim 1/3 and then he'd be a 100% horse's ass.

Oh, no. His grandfather, Fritz Kuhn, adopted the surname 'Kerry' when he came to America in 1900 or so thinking that an Irish name would be better than a Jewish name. In 1900 it was no advantage to be thought of as Irish in Boston!
Ol' Fritz thought he was being clever. Just proves that smarts don't run in the Kuhn (alias 'Kerry') family tree.

This one has had me wondering if Kerry isn't a closet Jew. Not an insult, mind you, just that in my experience a lot of Jewish families masquerade as something else for some sort of acceptance. In this day and age you'd think he'd come out of the closet.
I get mistaken for Jewish quite often as a lot of Feinbergs, Feingolds, & etc. contracted their names to 'Finn' when they came to the US.
Well, his grandfather is a Jew and even Kerry has acknowledged that he has "some Jewishness" in him but he didn't elaborate and he doesn't seem particularly proud of it.
Kerry seems to emphasize his mother's family which was the Mayflower crowd.
