President Bush will appear at the Lea County Event Center in Hobbs on Monday, October 11. Time has not yet been announced. I have ticket application forms and will FAX to anyone who FReep mails me. However, you will have to return them yourself to the Lea County Republican Headquarters in Hobbs to get the tickets (limit four per form).
When I went down to the Republican Party office a few minutes ago to pick up forms, there were cars and pickups parked on both sides of Broadway with people streaming in apply for tickets. They will give away all they have, I'm sure.
Do you know how far it is from ABQ. to Hobbs?
320 miles, 5 hours drive. All but the last 77 miles is 4-lane divided with speed limit 70-75 mph.
I wish I could make it. I live off of I-40 about 10 miles from the AZ border. That would add another 150 miles to the trip. About 3 hours from my house. Do you know if that's going to be his only stop in NM?
If Bush is visiting New Mexico, the other battleground states must be looking pretty good.
Ouch!! No that's way too far to come. It would be about a seven hour drive for you.
Don't know about other stops, but probably not. He has to get ready for the last debate in Tempe on Wednesay, so will probably stay in Tucson or similar city on Tuesday, maybe even in the Phoenix area.
Other FReepers in SE NM (especially Roswell, Artesia, Carlsbad) and Midland/Odessa, Seminole, Andrews and Lubbock in Texas, listen to your local radio or contact your local county party headquarters to see if they have tickets. I don't know if they are just going to Lea County or also to adjacent counties.
See this thread; he lost the lead here after Thursday nights fiasco:

I wish he would come out to the Navajo Indian Reservation. There's a lot of votes on the Rez. Kerry's been out here once. The Native American's vote heavily for the RAT party. I'd sure like to see that change. We've got thousands of new voters signed up by the RATS, and I'm sure many of them are illegal.
Though the Rats "signed" up new voters, they weren't the only ones. For example, the NM deadline was Tuesday (hand delivered or postmarked that day). I downloaded forms off the net and had a few folks register in my office on Monday and Tuesday.
Thanks, but I have no idea where I will be.
How soon do I have to let you know?
New Mexico. Another 2000 Dem state. Bush is all over Kerry turf right now.
Great job, Dave. I got 3 new voters signed up. We are not crooks like the bunch that was getting paid for every voter they got signed up. I wonder how many dead people and dogs were signed up. LOL
There's sure to be major problems in NM after the election. Unless the win is so great that there's no way voter fraud could have influenced the election.
Yes, unfortunately, we are a Dem state. The only blue state in the middle of a sea of red states. We've already got massive 'new' voter fraud in NM. Our state Supreme Court (RATS) ruled against the Republican's who filed suit to make all first time voters show their picture ID when they vote. THAT sunk NM right there.
I'll know more tomorrow morning when I go down to pick up my tickets. At that time I'll find out whether locations other than Hobbs have them. I'm sure the newspaper will have details too. I'll get back with you then.
BTW, if the election day was December 2 instead of November 2, folks could walk across the street from the event center and visit the new casino that will open November 15.
...that's uncanny. A good sign, too.
I don't care about the casino, what is happening with the horse track?
They announced it on the country station just after 4 p.m.; maybe on the others too. I couldn't believe it when I turned the corned and saw the cars. This part of Hobbs is what you would call depressed (boarded up storefronts), and to see a couple of dozen cars parked at the curb and in the lot was indeed a surprise.
Fall (late October) 2005. Only hitch to big $$$ for the city is if Texas goes the casino route to satisfy the court order to balance the school funding formula. As you know, we are less than five miles from the TX border and only 2 hours away from Lubbock and Midland/Odessa. It's another 3+ hours to casinos at Ruidoso.
