Saturday October 09, 2004 CHICAGO (AP) A police officer was accused Friday of pretending she was on active duty with the Army National Guard so the department would put her on military leave, authorities said.

Police allege that 30-year-old Jacqueline Williams submitted forged U.S. Army documents(emphasis added) to the department that said she had been called to duty on July 25.

Police said department inspectors launched an investigation after becoming suspicious of the documents, and Army officials confirmed they were not authentic. The Army also confirmed to police that Williams had not been called to active duty.

Prosecutors have charged Williams with felony theft and forgery, said Pat Camden, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department. She remained jailed Friday on $40,000 bond, Camden said.

The department has stripped Williams of her police powers and is moving to fire her. The city of Chicago also will try to recover the more than $16,000 she collected in salary while claiming to be on military leave, police said.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, can't Unca Dan Blather be prosecuted under this same pretense? If not him then the person who supplied the alleged forged documents should be.

I have noticed Dan's forgeries are no longer in the spotlight. We need to bring this back into the limelight. This particular case should at least bring comment from the law enforcement community.

Pity.

It looks like she'll have to cast her RAT vote via absentee ballot.

I'm sorry to say the outcome will be who has the slickest lawyers....I'm bettin' Rather. Under Clinton we did away with perjury, Sandy Berger stuffs classified stuff in his drawers and illegal aliens are the newest PC crowd for Dems and Pubs. I suppose document fraud is a logical liberal next step.

She is charged because she collected military leave pay from the department, if Dan Rather had gotten money it would be easy to have him arrested.

"...can't Unca Dan Blather be prosecuted under this same pretense?"

Not a chance. He's a special character, better than the rest of us and above the law. He can possess and use forged government docs to slander a president, defraud the public and exert undue influence on a federal election and he walks. Not a peep from anybody, including the FCC/FEC.

That's just how it is. Jane Fonda can commit blatant treason in North Vietnam and never be prosecuted for it. She's above the law, just like Dan Rather is.

For crying out loud....slow down already. Lets not be so quick to judge her! For all we know, she was simply doing the groundwork so that she could eventually run for President on the democRat ticket!

Perhaps the cops will find a couple of medals she received based on forged documents....then she will have real leadership potential.
