(AP) Heinz Kerry Says Husband Would Be Cautious

McALLEN, Texas - The wife of presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) told a receptive audience in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas that Kerry would seek out all other options before going to war.

"John will never send a boy or girl in a uniform anywhere in the world because of our need and greed for oil," Teresa Heinz Kerry told about 1,200 supporters at the McAllen Civic Center.

She said her husband, as president, would be able to approach the families of slain soldiers and say, "'I did everything I could to prevent this, I'm sorry.' "

She spoke for about an hour and was interrupted frequently by applause and cheering, The (McAllen) Monitor reported in its Monday editions.

Earlier, Heinz Kerry attended a $1,000-a-head private fund-raiser at the McAllen home of developer Alonzo Cantu. It was not immediately clear how much the event raised.

Speaking at the rally, Heinz Kerry criticized President Bush (news - web sites)'s working relationships with other nations.

"Diplomacy is not about, `I'm telling you.' Diplomacy is about, `what do you think?'" Heinz Kerry said. "If you cannot have respect for the other side, you cannot have diplomacy."

Heinz Kerry, switching to Spanish, encouraged supporters to go to the polls.

Hidalgo County, where Heinz Kerry spoke, is one of the most Democratic in Bush's home state. Democrat Al Gore (news - web sites) took 61 percent of the vote in the county in 2000, to Bush's 38 percent.

Last month, Heinz Kerry attended a private fund-raiser in San Antonio and spoke to campaign volunteers. In July, a San Antonio event for Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards (news - web sites) raised a record $600,000.

Bush campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Miller said Sunday that the Democratic nominee is out of step with Texas.

"John Kerry's 20-year out-of-the-mainstream record does not represent the values of Texans nor does his plan to raise taxes and his lack of a plan to win the war on terror," Miller said.

Oh, I forgot - I remember an article I read a month or so ago that had Theresa saying that being called "First Lady" would be "icky". I kid you not. I couldn't believe that she would consider that "title" being "icky". What kind of freaking "icky" "first lady" would she make. I keep hearing the talk shows saying that even though she says stupid stuff, "No one votes for or against the wife of the candidate" - well I say there is always a first time for everything. Any of you uncommitteds out there?

Other than the lady that went on NPR yesterday, has anyone heard any feedback from people who were in the audience Friday?

Didn't someone in the Kerry camp tell her to put a sock in it? Although, every time her and her gigolo speak, it's good for us.

BTW, I just purchased and watched Fahrenhype 9/11. You MUST see this and get the word out to everyone. I really believe this movie needs to be on PPV or TV or somewhere before the election!

When people fly planes into our buildings, killing our innocent civilians, we can do all the "telling" we want until the enemy is dead!

A jealous glance from Jesse at Sharpton. He has his eyes open during the prayer staring at Sharpton.

Oh, I get it...

"John will never send a boy or girl in a uniform anywhere in the world because of our need and greed for oil,"

"Clothing is wonderful,” she [THK] said, "but let them go naked for a while, at least the kids.”

Why do these nutcases (the kerry's) insist on refering to our MEN AND WOMEN in uniform as "boys and girls" -- very insulting to our troops laying thier lives on the line every day!!

Yep, that bothers me too. But it would probably take too much effort to shift on old geezer from old habits. ;)

John will never send a boy or girl in a uniform anywhere in the world because of our need and greed for oil

They are not children, they are adults. Young but bright able adults that have chosen independently to serve their nation. They deserve respect, madam. They do not deserve to have a mission they believe in disparaged as being for oil, to have their own honor called into question. And, if we were benefiting from oil, why has the price of it risen?

She said her husband, as president, would be able to approach the families of slain soldiers and say, "'I did everything I could to prevent this, I'm sorry.' "

Troops going into battle do not want to hear reluntance, disappointment and apologies for their mission by the C-I-C. They want to have confidence, resolve and possess the knowledge their C-I-C exercised all diplomatic means but in the end, when necessary, trusts them to accomplish the mission when diplomacy fails. They are our final line of defense. When their lives are tragically lost, they wish their sacrifice to be noted as honorable and just. Not noted as a "mistake".

"Diplomacy is not about, `I'm telling you.' Diplomacy is about, `what do you think?'" Heinz Kerry said. "If you cannot have respect for the other side, you cannot have diplomacy."

Very well, I would state that your entire campaign has lacked an element of respect, and therefore you have demonstrated your failure at diplomacy.

Diplomacy is to be used to resolve conflicts if possible before force is needed, it is not meant to weaken our nation in the process.

"John Kerry's 20-year out-of-the-mainstream record does not represent the values of Texans nor does his plan to raise taxes and his lack of a plan to win the war on terror," Miller said.

Amen.

Taking Sides: Kerry disagrees with thedemocracy at gunpoint doctrine.

Actual quotes

You can't impose it on people. . . . You have to invite them to it. You have to nurture the process.

Actual quotes

SHOULD HE GO INTO MODELING?

Good God and for Crying Out Loud

I can just hear the patronizing, motherly tone in this twits voice as I read this article.  I'm sure all the men and women in uniform just LOVED being called boys and girls.  This half-wit is so freaking out of touch with the real world it's pathetic. Heck, I thought John Kerry was arrogant, condescending, aristocratic and all the rest of those haughty terms; but for crying out loud this woman is ridiculous!  "Let them go naked" and Marie Antoinette's "Let them eat cake" are so typified of thinking of the elite liberals in this country that truly believe they know what is best and you are an idiot that should listen to them.  Can you even imagine 4 years of this wench?  I'd rather have Hillary as president than this dumbass as first lady.
