Old Media Bias Comes Out of the Closet
The Washington Dispatch ^ | October 11, 2004 | National Editor CK Rairden

Posted on 10/11/2004 12:19:20 PM PDT by NewMediaFan

It’s been a tough slog for old media of late.

CBS NEWS and Dan Rather were nabbed by the new media as they attempted to use fraudulent documents to harm the president’s re-election chances. NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw blasted the new media for pointing out the CBS smear job saying, “There's a political jihad against Dan Rather and CBS,” and adding “It's an attempt to demonize CBS news. It's a demagoguery unleashed on the Internet.”

Dan Rather proved willing to even use fraudulent documents to help John Kerry.

ABC NEWS Political Director Mark Halperin recently sent a memo to staff that was leaked to the Drudge Report. Halperin’s memo started out by claiming the stakes were high, and old media’s responsibilities had become quite grave. The memo then stated, “We have a responsibility to hold both sides accountable to the public interest, but that doesn't mean we reflexively and artificially hold both sides "equally" accountable when the facts don't warrant that.” It got worse, “As one of the few news organizations with the skill and strength to help voters evaluate what the candidates are saying to serve the public interest. Now is the time for all of us to step up and do that right.”

For Halperin, doing that right means slanting coverage in favor of Kerry.

THE WASHINGTON POST did the same thing over the weekend. In a clearly biased “article” WaPo found a few Marines and highlighted their frustrations of their difficult duties in Iraq. It ran several quotes from young Marines complaining of conditions and the tough fight they face. It was highly critical of President Bush and the reporter, Steve Fainaru used the Michael Moore technique of finding a tiny percentage of Military men to complain, while offering no rebuttal...

Immediately following Rush, the CBS radio news segment was entirely an ad for Kerry, except for one part about a missing girl

CBS News misquoted Kerry as saying "We must reduce terrorism to the point that it is no more than a nuisance." They then proceeded to attack Bush for taking the comment out of context and distorting it.

Then they did a story quoting Kerry's attack on Bush for high oil prices.

The news I am hearing on ABC radio today seems awfully Kerry slanted also. Listening to conservative talk radio and then hearing that kind of news is disturbing.

Anybody else out there listening to the ABC radio news and finding them more Kerry slanted than usual today?

The day the MSM finally pushes it's agenda to its inevitable end, the wheels come off society & anarchy reigns supreme, I will be waiting outside ABC News HQ with a Louisville Slugger.

The incestuous realtionship between the MSM and the Dims is more apparent now than ever. This affair can no longer be a secret because the old belief that "if we don't print it did not happen" doesn't work. The "pajamadeen" and other media sources has revealed the demagoguery of MSM for what it is, a serious misuse of the freedom of the press. The truth will prevail!

Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? I didn't think so.

I am doing my best to promote the label OLD MEDIA!!

It is much more appropriate than MSM and helps define their lame, biased, outdated "Opinions" that are not news at all!

Fox had some bimbo from the Washington Compost on the show earlier this afternoon. She basically defended the ABC memo. She ignored the words of the memo and tried to spin it into some kind of plea for fairness. She even had the gumption to say that the media had been supporting Bush for a period of time.

It's an intentional nose-thumbing aimed at us, a statement that they'll do what they like and no one will stop them. It remains to be see whether they're right or not.

Dan Rather has been waging a political jihad for as long as I can remember.

Time he learned what it feels like to be on the receiving end.

Read this account of one, in Freelance Radical it's him demonizing Toby Keith!

I lost my respect for the MSM in 1965 when they advertized a come-on for the news in which they promised to show a US Marine getting killed in VN.

Ask the operator to transfer you to Mark Halperin's desk, she will.

Dan Rather and the CBS memogate has been the initial chest pain of the MSM coronary, which is one more blood clot (DNC forgery) away from arterial thrombosis. You can hear the arteries of old media hardening as we speak and television anchors will all soon be taking dirt naps as the plasma screen new wired generation spreads the honest and unbiased reporting and the TV towers are taken over by cell phone repeaters and internet infrastructure. ABCNNBCBS have been out Foxed and the left wing socialist green peace tree huggers have outlawed blood hounds to the dismay of the red suited riders, just ask the BBC. The DNC red jackets can no longer call out to release the hounds and the Fox is free.

What ever happened to earning the public trust? Is there bias serving the public interest. By mis-informing the public, they are violating FCC rules...
Maybe it's time to get some people online to request a formal congressional hearing on this matter!
