Reeve died Sunday after developing a serious bloodstream infection from a bedsore, a common problem for paralyzed people. He went into cardiac arrest Saturday at his home in Pound Ridge, N.Y., then fell into a coma, dying the next day at a hospital.

The above quote is taken from foxnews.com ... they have a link to the Reeves story at the bottom of the main page here.

> Here's an AP story ...

Relevant quote: " Kerry ... said Reeve left him a
long voice mail on Saturday ..."

Another report has it that Reeve was suffering from
severe sepsis and went into cardiac arrest on Saturday.

The timeline here merits some investigation.

The facts as I understand them are these:

1. Reeves developed a systemic infection from a bedsore that grew progressively worse over the period of a week, until he lapsed into a coma sometime on Saturday. I have not seen information identifying precisely when he was admitted to the hospital, but when he was admitted, he had already slipped into a coma.

2. Kerry claimed in a speech that he had received a phone call from Reeves on Saturday, congratulating him on raising the stem cell research issue in the debate Friday.

3. The call was voice, not text message. Kerry spoke about the emotion he heard in Reeve's voice.

4. I have subsequently seen it claimed that Kerry did not speak live with Reeve, but listened to a voice message left on an answering machine. That seems very plausible.

5. If Reeve left a voice message, he could easily have done so Friday night, right after the debate, and Kerry might well not have heard it until Saturday.

6. So, as of now, there is no "smoking gun" evidence proving that Kerry is lying.

It was AFTER....and Reeve didn't call sKerry, he called Edwartz. Edwartz has the ability to hear dead people while robbing insurance companies.

good analysis.

the real story here is that Kerry was tipped as to this guys impending death, so he could put a stake in the ground and drop his name at the debate - knowing he would likely die shortly, and he could get some media attention from it.

It's a no win story.

Far better is Edwards claim that Kerry's going to make him walk.

Whatever you say, but I'll bet there's going to be a bunch of late Mercedes' payments this month.

Doesnt' surprise me at all. Edwards made the claim the other day that if Kerry was President then people like Reeve would be walking again.

Well the only person in history that could make the lame to walk was the Lord Jesus Christ. So, apparently Edwards is claiming Kerry is Christ?

I would tend to go along with your facts as outlined and give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. (In other words it was an old message he picked up on Saturday).
I think what is more telling is HERE WE GO AGAIN. Kerry says something totally off the wall and days are spent by spinners trying to explain what he really said or really meant .....Now WHO pray tell does THAT remind you of???

I can't understand all the complaits about bias in the news from the left about the Swifties, since hours of a pro Kerry position is presented without agruement. There hasn't been one counter claim to pro-stem cell position of Superman. Read the article below:

As I understand it, Reeves got septic (probably septic shock) from an infected decubitus ulcer (bed sore). He was admitted to the hospital for this on Saturday, the day of the alleged voice mail. How can someone going into septic shock leave a detailed voice mail message?

Christopher Reeves is off liimitis for use as a political football by either republicans or dems.

On what grounds?

I disagree completely. Reeve put himself into the pollitical arena and used his disability to raise awareness to soaring heights about it, in the social and political and entertainment worlds.

Being dead seldom exonerates anyone from praise or blame. We are known by our deeds whether they are good or not good. Our reputation follows us past the grave.

BTW, it was kerry who injected the name of Chris Reeve into the debate. People following up on that can not be faulted when the issue is now kerry's lie-a-bility, or *cough* veracity.

the only person in history that could make the lame to walk was the Lord Jesus Christ.

And He's still doing the same thing today through the members of His body, the Church.

I've been healed of numerous afflictions, including increasing deafness (loss of hearing well documented before the healing) in this way.

But to the point about Edwards' claims, he sounds like a snake oil salesman promising things he can't deliver.
