I don't think Bush campaign would be asking for donations and credit cards
Sorry to have bothered you during the dinner hour. If it is more convenient for you, you can forward me the info via FReeper mail.......

So what is RMA? My curiousity would've forced me to ask what is it?

If you are on national don't call list (I am) I don't think the Bush/Cheney campaign will call you (correct me if I'm wrong). Also, as added insurance, don't give out your phone number, even to Repubs. But I do get frequent mail requests and find them interesting to read although I can't afford to contribute after reaching my modest limit.

Absolutly not. Iam solicited often as I volunteer and give money. That is not how they do it. they will send you a pledge letter in the mail.not ask for credit card # if you dont want to give to them.

oh please, it isn't ((sickening)). Stop over reacting. All you have to do is throw it in the trash or recycle the paper if it has any blank sides for note paper or notify them to take your name off their list. You can't have it both ways. This is a very important time and they, as expected by us are doing their job.
I sent the RNC $50 in January. It is, by far, the biggest waste of campaign money I have ever given. I wrote a letter included with my check specifically asking that I not be solicited for the rest of the year. The daily solicitations over the phone and through the mail started about ten days later. They called every single night for over five weeks. Several times, I was called twice in the same night. I returned many requests with a written request to stop soliciting. I started marking "refused: return to sender" on the envelopes. It did not stop until I started returning it with "deceased" written on there.
For some reason, writing "deceased" worked for me. It does not work for my grandmother. My grandfather still gets occasional requests from the RNC to this day. He died in 1992!
And we wonder why we see anti-Bush ads several times a day with the tagline "the Democratic National Committee is responsible for the content of this advertisement" at the end. Yet... I have NOT seen a SINGLE RNC commercial: they chose to waste their money on junk mail.

The Arizona Republican Party called me (I don't doubt it when they do because my wife volunteers and I've donated several times in the past) and asked for 75.00. I said I'll give 50 and gave them my card number. I just looked at my bank statement on line and it says it cleared from The Arizona Republican Party. However, even though I know they do this I myself after reading this post am going to make sure they send an envelope in the future.

Odd since I haven't been barraged with this type of mailing. Are you sure YOU weren't targeted by some scam mailing? All you have to do is inquire at your local post office and see if your post master can address this problem. See if the post master can automatically return all obvious (specifically Political) donation solicitations.

NO. They're scams if they call you on the phone, IMO.

It's gotten to the point that I flatly refuse to do anything over the phone unless I initiated the contact. I always make them send me a letter, then I can check out their validity and write a check if I so desire.
The RNC called me last night and I confess I got a bit shirty with them. How many times are they going to hit me up for 50 bucks? Besides, I absolutely hate solicitors who are obviously reading from a script. When I get one of those, I make it my mission in life to knock them off their script. Gives me some kind of perverse pleasure.

Odd since I haven't been barraged with this type of mailing. Are you sure YOU weren't targeted by some scam mailing? Haven't heard of scam mailing involving people claiming to be the RNC. I also don't know if scammers would be this persistent. I have given to the RNC from time to time over the years. They've always been agressive with the mail, but earlier this year was ridiculous. I did check on some of the calls that I received, and they sounded legitimate.
Thanks for the advice on asking the Postmaster to hold political solicitations. I have had some successes with my own carrier, but then we get a new carrier... since our Postmaster serves about 200,000 addresses, I never thought they could honor such a request at that level.

"Thanks for the advice on asking the Postmaster to hold political solicitations"
your postmaster won't hold unwanted mail, but am sure they would or could return to sender and eventually the sender gets tired of paying the return postage automatically charged by the postmaster to their account.

I have been called by legitimate campaign groups. There is a clear difference in the way they behave.
I'm not saying that I like the calls, but I haven't been cheated.
