Outrage That Rings False (Completely BARF ALERT!!!)
The Washington Post ^ | October 16, 2004 | Hilary Rosen

Posted on 10/16/2004 8:28:35 AM PDT by conservativo

Nicolle Devenish, communications director for the Bush-Cheney campaign, said Thursday that John Kerry will pay a heavy political price for what he did. Lynne Cheney, the vice president's wife, said, "This is a bad man."

The crime? John Kerry in the final presidential debate suggested that we are all God's children and used Mary Cheney as an example of a healthy gay person loved by her family.

The response from the Cheneys and the Bush campaign has been blatantly political. In fact, it is they who are using Mary Cheney -- using her now to score points against Kerry and John Edwards over an issue on which they themselves are guilty of the wrongs that Kerry and Edwards are fighting against. Even after almost 30 years in Washington, I am surprised by the overwhelming hypocrisy and meanness of the Bush reelection campaign.

Let's review the facts. Before the election season, this administration opposed every initiative to offer equality for gay men and lesbians. Indeed, it has gone out of its way to be punitive, with such actions as the Office of Personnel Management's announcement that the federal government has no intention of honoring the Clinton administration's order to add sexual orientation to anti-discrimination rules in the federal government.

After the debate, the vice president said of John Kerry: "This is a man who will say anything and do anything to get elected." Many people thought the same thing about Dick Cheney and President Bush on Feb. 24. That was the day the president announced to the country that heterosexual marriages are in trouble because gay people might someday have such a right in a few states. The crisis was so dire that he implored Congress to pass a constitutional amendment to permanently take away any rights gay men and lesbians...

Considering the Democrats are the party who claimed that Clinton's sex life was private, it is the height of hypocrisy for them to now declare that the sexuality of the Vice President's daughter (who is not a public figure) is fair game.

Okay, so is Elizabeth Edwards a healty obese person loved by her family? Is Albert Gore, Jr., a drug and alcohol abuser loved by his family? Is Ted Kennedy a drunk womanizer loved by his family? Is Bill Clinton a rapist loved by his family? The list goes on.... What a joke. The more the liberals try to spin this, the worse they look. I don't think any of their explanations can undo the immediate visceral response of most viewers to Kerry's patronizing, homophobe pandering smear.

If Mary Cheney is fair game then so is Vanessa and Alexandra.

I thought the name "Hilary Rosen" looked familiar, and small wonder, she's the former chairman and CEO of the RIAA, which is all I need to know about her.

This POS doesn't even KNOW Mary Cheney....if he was trying to make a point, why not use Barney Frank with whom he is quite familiar?

How can President Bush be taking away a right if they cannot under current law get married anywhere(well, except in Kerry's home state, of course).

Hilary Rosen is a shill... first for the evil RIAA, now for Kerry the gay-baiter. Did Cheney or Bush see fit to mention Kerry's daughter's peekabook dress at Cannes or the Edwards' late child? NO, because people with grace, tact and honor don't use their opponents' kids as political wedges.

This incident revealed Dems to be the most intolerant of all. The don't think of Mary as the Cheneys' daughter -- they think of her as the Cheneys' gay daughter. They don't even realize that they have two daughters who they love very much. Silky Pony is lucky Dick didn't beat his pampered posterior.

Polls show that the vast majority of people don't like what Kerry said. This article might be lop-sided - BUT they are still talking about it and it hurts Kerry.

The propaganda arm of the Democrapic Party (MSM) is desperate now; they know Kerry has probably blown it irreparably. We will see unprecedented barfing from now on.

The logic used by Ms. Rosen is the same as that used to defend Bill Clinton: "Even if he did the things the individual women said he did, it does not matter. All that matters is that Bill Clinton supports women's rights." Those who would impeach and try Bill Clinton have never supported women's rights the way Clinton does.
So what if Kerry mentioned a specific person who is a lesbian. All that matters is that Kerry supports gay and lesbian rights. Those who would question Kerry, including the parents of Mary Cheney, have never supported gay and lesbian rights the way Kerry and his minions do.

Right, I agree completely. It's just that the article is so completely biased that the byline should say, "Hillary Rosen, member of the Kerry campaign."

"Hillary Rosen, member of the Kerry campaign."

Lol, and risk losing a portion of their base voters like college kids and young adults who hate Rosen's guts? I'd love to see that.

The Democrats', the gay activists' and the Log Cabin's exploitation of Mary Cheney's sexual proclivities, which to her credit she has not made a political issue, is despicable and arrogant.

I love it! The Democrats have started their game of "You didn't really see and hear what you really saw and heard" game. These people are so predictable, it's almost laughable. They always follow it up with their, "Okay, so you did see and hear what you know you saw and heard, but it's no big deal" game.

This is a case however, where the more they talk, the deeper a hole they dig themselves.
