GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Some neighbors aren't thrilled with the rock in gun dealer Don Davis's front yard promoting armed protection, but he vows that only a judge can make him move it.

The 8-foot ornamental rock, in front of the home Davis recently built near this Indianapolis suburb, depicts an eagle and the U.S. flag.

The inscription: ``It's better to own a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not own it.''

didn't find this, so hope it's not a repost.

I need to buy a giant rock. I heard I can score some from the Ohio NAACP.

He has every right to put this up in his front yard. However, he's a jackass for doing so.

Hehe...they're mad that they can't tear down the Bush/Cheney sign in his yard without serious consequences.

``It's better to own a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not own it.''

Why is he a jackass? That is a perfectly reasonable statement that more people need to hear.

If anyone complains he should offer to give them a free sign that reads "This Is A Gun Free Home" for them to post in their front yard.

Great line. I like this guy.

Would you be annoyed if your neighbor put up a giant sign that said "George Bush Is A Brain Dead Idiot?"

I'm a fan of trying to be a good neighbor. Something like this is an eyesore and a considerate person would not put it up.

Maybe he should also distribute signs with:

"THIS HOME IS UNARMED, PLEASE DO NOT HURT US."

Just to be fair and balanced to the sheep.

Bumper stickers aren't an eyesore for a neighborhood.

LOL! Our neighborhood sKerry supporter put his sign in his front window. He thinks the HOA doesn't allow signs in the yard. He's wrong, it does. He is just too stupid to read the bylaws - and he was the pres. one year. Anyway, the sign in the window looks a lot more tacky than our BC sign in our yard.

Probably something to the effect that you can't put up permanent signs in your front yard.
