Insurance agent C. Bryant, a poll watcher from Goldwater days, just came in and reminded me of a time when democratic candidates would hold rallies within walking distance of the polling place on election day...firing up the base and reminding them to "just remember two names in the voting booth"...usually the president and a local rep. or senator.

In Corrine's case, she would have reminded her constituents to just remember "Gore and Brown"...

If you follow the link, you will see a list of third party candidates from the 2000 race, including an old white man, socialist Walt Brown. Almost all of the 2700 double punched ballots in Duval were in HER district! So yes, people were disenfranchised in Jacksonville, because they listened to Corrine!!

Thank you Corrine, and thank you, Walt and thank you, Lord, for the lazy illiterate voters of Duval County!

Walt Brown did not run for President in 2000. But Libertarian Harry Browne did. Perhaps Corrine convinced a few Democrats to vote for Harry instead.

On second thought...it just gets better...Walt Brown IS on the ballot in Florida for 2004

Did the DNC expend millions to try to bump off Nader only to have Corrine's base spoil their ballots again!

Or did those Duval Democrats vote for both Browne and Gore? That would have ruined their ballots, but they did not understand.

"Or did those Duval Democrats vote for both Browne and Gore?"

Probably, which explains some of the spoiled ballots in Jacksonville. Others were caused by the fact that the presidential candidates were spread over two pages in Duval County (in order to avoid having a butterfly ballot or really small type), and the dumb Democrats had reminded voters to "vote on every page," so many Democrats voted for Gore on page 1 and another presidential candidate (usually the Socialist Workers candidate) on page 2.

Actually, I remember reading that one of the most popular overvotes in Florida was Gore-Browne, which didn't make sense, since they weren't even close to each other on the ballot. The purported reason for the mistake was---I kid you not---that voters read LIBERTARIAN and thought that it said LIEBERMAN, so they thought they were voting for president and VP! But if the Gore-Browne overvote occurred in Corrine Brown's congressional district, maybe it was because of her idiotic instructions to "remember two names."
