It turned out days later that the Kerry campaign has a plan -- nay, a promise -- to cure paralysis. What is the plan? John Edwards on Monday at a rally in Newton, Iowa: "If we do the work that we can do in this country, the work that we will do when John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve are going to walk, get up out of that wheelchair and walk again." I have never seen a more loathsome display of demagoguery. raising false hope in the catastrophically afflicted is despicable. First, the inability of the human spinal cord to regenerate is one of the great mysteries of biology. The answer is not remotely around the corner. It could take a generation to unravel. Second, if the cure for spinal cord injury comes, we have no idea where it will come from. Stem cell research is just one of many possibilities, and a very speculative one at that. Third, the implication that Christopher Reeve was prevented from getting out of his wheelchair by the Bush stem cell policies is a travesty. George Bush is the first president to approve federal funding for stem cell research. There are 22 lines of stem cells now available, up from one just two years ago. there are 3,500 shipments of stem cells waiting for anybody who wants them. Edwards and Kerry constantly talk of a Bush "ban" on stem cell research. This is false. There is no ban. In his Aug. 7 radio address to the nation, Kerry referred not once but four times to the "ban" on stem cell research instituted by Bush. So what does Kerry do? He begins his radio address with the disgraceful claim that the stem cell "ban" is standing in the way of an Alzheimer's cure.

Yes, and I think it's worth repeating.
Priceless.
"I have never seen a more loathsome display of demagoguery"
The Washington Post is on record as crediting John Edwards with the most loathsome display of demagoguery of all time. I think the MSM has otherwise been slacking off in not directly questioning Edwards about why he thinks he's qualified to be VP. There's never been a less qualified VP in my lifetime.
A remarkable audio extravaganza results by mixing John Edwards' statements regarding Chris Reeve with a musical backdrop of southern baptist church organ and choir.
Another Krauthammer home run!
Please include original titles.
Thanks.
Sen. Edwards and Mrs. Kerry could go on the road as Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dumber.
Isn't Dr. Krauthammer himself confined to a wheelchair?
I love this man. I loved it when on Brit Hume's show he was responding to the question of whether or not the Bush Admin should accept THK's apology regarding Laura Bush....
The doctor said, "The White House can accept it, but I don't have to!" I loved that! He has said many enlightening things and I think he is one of the few people that actually deliberately puts Mara Liason (NPR) in her place on a regular basis.
I missed that Special report, but Rush played quite a bit of Krauthammer's comments on his show today. I wish I'd heard the whole thing - I've never heard Krauthammer tear into someone like he did Teresa. For that matter, Rush himself was on quite a roll today.
Anyone else get the feeling that a lot of the conservative pundits have just about had enough of Kerry's bullsh!t, and are showing him what "taking the gloves off" really means?

Apparently others aren't accepting the apology either. A friend came up to me today and said "As a former English teacher, I'm not undecided anymore." At first I didn't know what he meant (I though he took issue with W's syntax). Then I remembered the Terahyza line from yesterday. He was really upset with her, and JK by association. Then he went on to say that he had been on a teachers' website, and many said they were switching to Bush! I was a little surprised by the strong reaction, but I guess I have become inured to the Dem's outrages whereas others are just now finding out.
