NEW YORK TIMES URGES: FORGET 9/11

New York Times Urges: Forget 9/11 By Isaiah Z. Sterrett Oct 21, 2004 Forget about 9/11. It’s no longer important. In fact, it never even happened. Just ask Tom Friedman. In a truly revolting column entitled “Addicted to 9/11,” Friedman recently argued that Americans should forget about the slaughter of 3,000 of our fellow countrymen. “[M]any Americans,” he wrote, “are worried…that terrorism is transforming us and our society, when it was supposed to be about uprooting the terrorists and transforming their societies.” (By “many Americans” Friedman means “me and Al Gore.”) Yes, terrorism is transforming our society. Whereas four years ago we were sorting through the rubble of the failed Clinton administration in search of the truth, we are today sorting through the rubble of bona fide terrorism, praying that we’re never hit again. According to Friedman, “[b]y exploiting the emotions around 9/11, Mr. Bush took a far-right agenda on taxes, the environment and social issues—for which he had no electoral mandate—and drove it into a 9/12 world.” For the full article, go to MichNews.com http://www.michnews.com/artman/publish/article_5484.shtml

I see Tom Friedman is firmly in the "9/11 was a nuisance" camp.

That is offensive... a cheap ploy to score political points. How can anyone forget 9/11? Our country was under attack!! That's like telling people to forget about other important events in our country's history... like the Civil War, Pearl Harbor, etc. The liberals are so messed up!

Hmm...why does the Left want us to forget 9/11?
Because it helped to quell some of their divisive tactics...black vs white, gay vs straight, female vs male, rich vs poor. Their marxist tactics are ineffective in a post 9/11 world....

Tom Friedman, by his own admission, is aligned with the Social Democrats of Europe. What on earth would anyone expect of him other than a regurgitation of the crap from Chirac and Schroeder?

I'm sorry, but THE MURDER OF 3,000 OF MY DEAREST COMPATRIOTS IS NOT A MERE NUISANCE TO BE FORGOTTEH. These are our friends, spouses, children, parents. We humans do not take kindly to their demise. And we ignore such death only at our own peril. These sentiments are beyond preposterous. Why dare we deny the very existence of our attackers?

Have YOU forgotten? (Darryl Woorley) We'll see how many have forgotten come November.

, “[b]y exploiting the emotions around 9/11, Mr. Bush took a far-right agenda on taxes, the environment and social issues—for which he had no electoral mandate—and drove it into a 9/12 world.”

If you move beyond the offensive nature of the accusation Bush performing his job as President to secure our nation in the wake of the greatest terrorist attack in our nation's history was exploitation, there is room to laugh.

ReRead this:

for which he had no electoral mandate

Okay, one, still fuming about Florida incapable of accepting Bush won the state.

Two, incensed that with the obstacle of a close election, Bush proceeded to govern as the President and enact substantive legislation! The Libs thought he would be paralyzed and he wasn't. LOL!!

In short, the Libs resent 9-11 because they believe it gave someone who didn't legally win the election the mandate to function as President and enact policy changes that either set back liberalism or end their ability to use the incompleten of the policy as a stump issue against Republicans.

The Liberals resent the planes being hijacked and killing thousands because it hurt their hold on power and set the edges of their playbook on fire.

If the left would forget about the Nazis, Slavery, Vietnam, and McCarthyism I >might< be persuaded to think about forgetting about 9/11 because they would not have any arguments left as their whole world view revolves around those four things. They simply would have no arguments left.
