My son is campaigning to play Diviion III Lacrosse at college somewhere in the United States next year. There is a small number of colleges where his application is competitive - a number of his original interests in Indiana, Connecticut, New York and Virginia are either already sewn-up or have been written off.

He would like to be accepted at Ohio Wesleyan University - but he hasn't been to Ohio since March. Other standout Lacrosse Face-off Middies have campaigned against him to earn one of the coveted few admissions/playing spots.

(Son) has sent numerous letters and other documents to the OWU campus on a regular basis; communicated with the voters in the Admissions Office and Athletic Department by telephone and email nearly every week; met "representives of the student Press" in person (they accompanied a scouting trip here); and sent hours of video taped "highlights" to the Lacrosse Coach.

Son plans an on-campus visit and further interviews later this week during the tradional fall "Senior College Trip" break.

Mid-Term grade reports show (son) edged up from 23rd to 17th in the class of 432 students

Recent polls in the Indoor Lacrosse League here suggest (Son) is favored 51%/47% to win the 'Hardball' trophy, with 2% undecided. Winning this trophy would add 20 points to the OWU Admissions and Athletic weighting system.

Application for Admission to OWU is due Monday, Nov. 1, 2004

wow....

I almost went to Capital University in Columbus to play baseball....but elbow issues and the cost (I couldnt afford it on my own and I dead set against having my parents pay it for me) stopped me.

Good luck to your son. I am sure he will make it.
