VERO BEACH, Fla. (AP) An anti-John Kerry demonstrator was charged with felony aggravated assault with a gun for allegedly pointing a weapon at the head of a Kerry supporter.
Michael Garone, 52, was released from jail Tuesday on his on recognizance.
Garone and others were holding anti-Kerry signs at a street corner Monday in Vero Beach when Trevor Pickering drove up and said ``Go Kerry,'' according to an arrest affidavit.
Pickering argued with the anti-Kerry protesters, and then got out of the car and knocked a sign out of the hands of one of the demonstrators.
``That's when (Garone) walked up to my car and stuck a gun to my head,'' Pickering said. ``I said 'I'm sorry' and 'Please don't kill me,' drove away and called the cops.''
Garone denied pointing the gun at anyone.
Vero Beach is about 65 miles north of West Palm Beach.

cbsnewyork huh humm...
They should have had someone tasked with running a video camera full time.
We know the liberal left will make any charge, any allegation, any lie they can.
Semper Fi
You sure it was a "Bush" supporter? They danced all around that. Not everyone that is anti-Kerry is pro Bush.
Notice also how cbs has completely ignored attacks on Repubicans. Did cbs even mention the idiot who attempted to run over Harris in Florida?
I think what happened was he got out of his car and started knocking signs out of people's hands. Garone revealed his weapon, but never pulled it, and the bully jumped into his car and drove off, called the cops and lied.
This illustrates the wisdom in the advice that if you have to pull your gun in order to stop an aggravated assault, you should be the one who calls the police.
The only thing missing is the part where he pulls the trigger!
I don't agree with you.
If one of my daughters says something nasty to the other, and the second one hits the first one, I'm going to be very unhappy with the daughter who escalated the fight to hitting. (Of course, I'll be annoyed with the original provacateur as well.)
You can't necessarily control the behavior of your assailant. How you choose to respond is up to you.
Possibly a Naderite?
well the guy denies pointing the gun. Maybe he brandished it.
But it sounds like a clear case of self defense to me.
I don't recommend pointing a weapon either. I'd have taken a pebble and put it in the valve of his tire to flatten it as he argued with people. But that's just me.
I'm guessing there were enough witnesses there to sort this out. Too bad the story is so fact-challenged.
CBS News is not a credible source.
there is actually 2 stories about it believe it or not.
I don't know but it sure seems strange to me that if this was a GB supporter , that they didn't scream it in the headline.
Too bad Mr. Garone was not with Katherine Harris the other day.
Maybe there would have been one less Demonrat voter for this election.
"I don't recommend pointing a weapon either."
Oh, I'm kind of OK with our side taking up arms! About time we stopped screwing around with this stuff!
However, there is a BIG difference between the two stories. In the Harris case, the guy admitted that he did it and has been charged with aggravated assault. In this case, the accused has denied the charge. Garone denied pointing the gun at anyone.
More MSM bias on display.
