New Bush Ashley Faulkner ad (non GOP)
Television ad | 10/28/04 | Geki

Posted on 10/28/2004 9:43:48 AM PDT by Geki

In Ohio last night (columbus) my wife and I saw a new Bush ad (it was paid for another organization of which I can't remember the name of). This is by far the most effective and personal ad I've seen this election year. The ad depicts the Ashley Faulkner, daughter of a 9/11 victim hug photo here at a rally in ohio a while back that made some headlines.. the ad showed personal interviews with the father and the daughter. It literally brings tears to your eyes. The ad was well put together and very genuine, it is a real winner in showing the character of Bush.

I was just wondering if anyone else saw it and had any comments...

I've seen it several times on Fox News here in Columbus, GA. I remember seeing the news articl about this months ago. It's a heart wrenching story, but I can see our President doing this ... being a father himself.

I can't see sKerry doing anything like this.

The group is "Progress for America Voter Fund". Here's the website: www.ashleysstory.com.

Been posted here dozens of times, but it is worth a repeat. It's awesome.

It has aired in the Philadelphia market as well, and it is very effective.

Seen it several times here in Idaho.

My wife loved it.

Thought it was the best political ad she has ever seen.

Thaaaats it! I can't believe neither of us have seen it previously, we're constantly bombarded with crap here in Cols.. Of course we don't watch much television outside of Foxnews, maybe some American Chopper or Mythbusters every now and again.. ;)

Sorry for a repost, I'm a bit new at the freep, my wife's been an avid lurker for a looong time.

I felt that this needed to be reposted: my verses for that event. Here's The Boss, and Ashley...

THAT'S MY BOSS!

When people are in trouble, and all seems to be so wrong,
A man steps forth without the crowd, to be so gently strong,
and demonstrates determination, without being cross,
and you're proud to say to all around who hear you, "That's My Boss!"

He calls no attention, makes no pretense, knows just what he needs,
to bring us comfort, resolve and strength - or simply put, he leads;
Just like a pro, he'll deftly field what evil men will toss,
and they just stand in shock and awe, while the troops say, "That's My Boss!"

He's walked with us, he's worn our boots, flown with us in the skies,
a steel glance that withers, if you dare to meet those eyes,
but also, can shed healing tears, as rain on forest moss,
and that lump just will not leave your throat, as you murmur, "That's My Boss!"

So, jaded pol or hardened cynic, meet this noble man,
belittle him, if you dare, or try to best him, if you can,
for even hardest heart will change, and take up America's cause,
and you'll stand along with me, and say with feeling, "That's My Boss!"

If a 3rd party is going to do a pro-Bush ad, they should at least consider giving Bush credit for something that he wouldn't take credit for himself (because he is above such behavior).

For instance, President Bush won't take credit for starting the Amber Alert system as Governor back in Texas.

Now the Amber Alert system is nationwide, saving children every month. The press won't write about it, except that they *might* mention that the Amber Alert system first went into place in Texas in 1996 (never mentioning who was Governor of Texas in 1996).

That's the sort of thing that a 527 should do an ad on. President Bush won't take credit for the Amber Alert system, the press won't give him credit for the Amber Alert system, yet a 527 could accurately point out that it all started under Governor Bush.

This ad has been airing for at least 2 weeks already in South Carolina.

Yes, I think this is a very touchy ad. It makes me emotional every time I see it.

They took out huge cable network buys for this ad. I've seen it many times...and I'm in the reddest of red states.
