This Bush Problem Stems From Cells
NewsDay ^ | October 28, 2004 | Jimmy Breslin

Posted on 10/30/2004 9:18:10 AM PDT by O.C. - Old Cracker

He cried out against stem cells because he said they are sinful. You are taking a life to perhaps save a life, he says. He sees armies of women having babies and then chopping them up like chickens for the stem cells. He is opposed to embryonic stem cells, which come from a fetus that has been fertilized in vitro. His wife says the stem cells couldn't save her father from Alzheimer's, which means nobody should have them. They get their views from a Dust-Bowl Bible left by Elmer Gantry. Fifty years from now, people will look back on this year in America and be amazed that the country was run by an obvious nitwit.

Possibly one of Breslin's most incoherent pieces to date. He is all over the map in this article, I can just see him scribbling notes at a chicken dinner while he wipes the gravy from his chin and takes another gulp of Chivas.

I post articles from the likes of Breslin and Helen Thomas because I find it fascinating that there are those who make a living writing stream-of-consciousness babble.

Does Jimmy have a single brain cell that hasn't been pickled?

So then why did he fund stem cell research, Mr. Breslin?

LOL

I think the liberals are "into" cloning, because that's the only way they can increase the number of Liberal voters.

The Bush Problem Stems From Cells

How long, do you reckon, did Jimmy have to struggle to come up with this title?

"He sees armies of women having babies and then chopping them up like chickens for the stem cells. He is opposed to embryonic stem cells, which come from a fetus that has been fertilized in vitro."

He's all over the place. There is a huge difference between embryonic stem cells from created embryos, and those from placental origin.

They will create embryos for research. Anyone with half a brain, which pretty much eliminates Breslin from the human condition, can see this. Futurists note that the creation of embryos is only a few steps away from cloning. The ideal clone would be one with only a brain stem, and used for parts.

Embryonic cell research is less apt to produce cures than adult or placental.

The researchers are after clones eventually. Not tomorrow, not next decade but it will come if it isn't stopped.

I think the pro-stem cell people just found their new poster victim-boy.

He's been "all over the map" ever since he quit drinking. The only time he's coherent these days is when he's spewing racial slurs at Korean reporters. Anyway, who reads Newsday? The rag just got caught inflating its circulation by 100,000.

My biggest worry is that stem cells and their products would be misused like keeping alive idiotic old ink-wasters.

Unbeknownst to the Breslins of this world, the maniacal desire to delve into embryonic stem cell research is really driven by a familiar spirit impelling man to enter an eternally forbidden province.

To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln: Breslin should be used for experimental medical research.

I've been wondering if stem-cells are the cure for everything, why isn't private money funding the research?

Government funding did not create the finest medical system in the history of the known universe. Free market capitalism did!

and by the way...

FACT: President Reagan implemented policies in his 1st administration that barred federal funding for human fetal tissue research. Not Bush!

FACT: President Bush approved the 1st-ever federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. $25 million!!!

(Although Clinton promised it when he ran for President in 1992 - he never delivered – surprise!)
