"Furthermore, the poll shows that 49 percent of likely voters believe that terrorism and social issues are the two issues they find more important in deciding whom they will vote for in this election. That's compared with 39 percent who say the economy and health care are more important."

Security, security, security.

Kerry cannot win in weekend polls? That is really bad news for the Kerry camp. Weekends are when Kerry polls best.

"According to the survey, conducted by Hart/McInturff"

oooh, what a prestigious firm...everyone has heard of them!

Not!

"This poll — which was conducted Oct. 29-31 among 1,014 likely voters, "

Ah, a weekend poll. Add at least 3-4 points to bush's total.

One thing important in that poll - 49% think terrorism and social issues are the most important factor compared to 39% who say econ/jobs. That tells me Bush has won the battle of framing the debate...

Has Kerry ever broken 50 percent in a major poll?

Look at the preponderance of data from the poll. Bush has consistently been ahead, esp in the most consistent polls.

There's no internals from the poll. It's just yet another in a series of polls meant to drive news and also give kerry the illusion of 'surging'.

It's simple folks. Bush will get at least 1% more than what he's averaging. So if he's averaging 49%, and with Gallup added in hopefully that will be what it is, he'll get at least 50% on Tuesday. But it will be a 2-3% spread, so 50 to 48 or 50.5 to 48.

There's a long standing rule that no candidate has ever topped his best poll number in the actual election.

The only poll that matters is Tuesday. Get out and vote. I have voted. If you need help to vote, drop a line here and someone close by will be happy to assist you. The most important thing is to get out and vote. Do you think the pierced orange headed freaks are going to stand in line to vote. READ MY TAGLINE!

Why would they group together terrorism and social issues?
