Any word on General Francisco Franco?

Who is this guy? Every Arafat thread I've seen today has at least one post in it with a reference to him.

It refers to an old comedy routine/running joke on the Saturday Night Live television show on NBC. Every week, somebody reported that Gen. Francisco Franco was still dead.

Back in I am going to guess the late 70s maybe very early 80s he was the ruler and most powerful man in Spain. Every week for months after he died on SNL during the news report they would announce Fransico Franco is still dead. Maybe it doesn't sound funny now but it sure was funny then.

That's because Franco was reported to have died, then he wasn't dead, then he was dead again. This lasted for 30 days, if I recall correctly.
