Rats!!! I KNEW I should have acted quicker, but the DSL has been down, and even BLUE wouldn't load properly on dial up. I can't stand not having made copies of "When The Man Comes Around" and "Live What I Believe" (hypothetically speaking, of course). This is bad!!! I'm so sorry, after all your hard work.

Way to go Bommer! You were outstanding! Let's all consider that Bommer wasn't shut down till after the election.... maybe one of the lawyers was a republican who thought it needed to make it till the 3rd (day after the election). Good luck with future productions!

Went into withdrawal yesterday...I want to thank you for the great morale lifting videos. My favorite was Live What I Believe but I loved all of them and, as you know, posted a link often..

Hey Bommer... Sorry to hear about the shut down :( I REALLY enjoyed the videos, the music was awesome, and like other posters, had never heard Johnny's 'When the man comes around'.. We were going to look for the CD for Christmas as well. Lawyers like Democrats are going to chew up their own fingers eventually.
Anyway.. GREAT JOB, very very much appreciated and inspirational as well. When I forwarded them around, I ALWAYS got huge positive feedback... so thank you for spreading the good word!! Well done! :)

Bommer, that's a bummer!
(*cringes* bad pun, I know) You should have hosted it on my site.
;) Well, I'm not saying that I would fight the 'man' if they came a-callin', but I do know that I have used copyright music in my flash in the past, and I never seem to have had any problems.
I think you should take a break, but then get back into it. You really seemed to enjoy doing it.
Here are a few suggestions to avoid this in the future:
It really helps if you display full credit for use of intellectual property, and display it prominently. Most artists don't seem to mind your use of their material if they know that people viewing your work can see very easily see that you are not implicitly taking credit for their stuff, and that people can find out who they are. The more information, the better too. Such as, what album(CD) it appears on, and the publishing and distributing companies.
Secondly, whenever posible, don't use the entire work. I know it would have been very hard to do with the piece you did with the Cash song. But using only a portion of a full work opens the whole question of intellectual property infringement to questions of "fair use". Lawyers can still threaten you, but if you only use a part of a song, it is very questionable if you can actually be sued. The smaller the percentage of the work, the better legal ground you stand on.
Thirdly (and you didn't seem to do this), but it really helps if you don't overtly or indirectly appear to be making any money off the use of the intellectual property.

Sorry to hear that; they must be dominated by the left.
I wondered what the deal was as I tried to download them to my laptop so I could take them to the Victory Party at our local campaign HQ last evening.. BUMMER, lots of people enjoyed your work.
And it's the RIGHT that is keeping people down, right?

"When the Man Comes Around" was very well done, but I must say that the artist must be properly paid when his art is used. I am surprised you didn't get proper permission for what appeared to be a work intense project.
Thank you, BTW, for a fine bit of an entertaining rally!
