Clinton draws crowd for foreign policy talk

Medford, MA, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton said Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's death could open a new opportunity for a lasting peace in the Middle East.

Clinton, D-N.Y., Wednesday night addressed a supportive crowd at Tufts University on the United States' Middle Eastern policies, covering points such as the ongoing military action in Iraq and Iran's nuclear program.

Clinton, who spoke a few hours before Arafat's death was announced, said: "Yasser Arafat could not make the transition from guerrilla leader to national leader. At the end of the day, Mr. Arafat was unwilling or unable to take that leap of faith."

Much of the talk, which she started by saying she had hoped to be speaking of Middle East foreign policy from a perspective of a "President Kerry," questioned the moves by President Bush.

She ended her speech, saying, "I can only hope that this administration will be guided by reality and evidence, not ideology and partisanship," the Tufts Daily reported.

You know, there USED to be a FABULOUS Hillary pic on this site. I copied it but dumped it a while ago.

It showed Hillary from the rear, going up a short ladder on a boat. She was wearing a white two-piece bathing suit.
Whoever worked the miracle had her butt extra large and quivering and shaking. It was HILLLLLLARIOUS!

I wonder if ANYone still has that wunnerful graphic. Sure be nice to see it again, especially on threads like this.

I'll make Clinton foreign policy simple:

1) Do nothing until attacked.

2)If attacked find out what the attackers want.

3)Give it to them.

4)Have your MSM buddies spin steps 2 and 3 as a "tough stance".

Pretty simple really.

She still had to get her dig in.

"...I can only hope that this administration will be guided by reality and evidence, not ideology and partisanship,..."

What a hypocrite! Does anyone on this forum think that a Kerry administration (or possibly, I shudder at the thought of this), a Hitlerally admin would have been "guided by reality and evidence, not ideology and partisanship,"? Not me and not a lot of others here would believe it. A Kerry (Clinton) admin would be guided by the latter, not the former.

"I can only hope that this administration will be guided by reality and evidence, not ideology and partisanship."

Yes. My husband, as you recall, did everything he possibly could to mediate and end this decades old struggle between the Israeli and Palestinians. Admittedly, once Arafat walked away from the conference table Bill had worked so dilligently to set up, WE determined there would be NO further conclaves with Mr. Arafat. He had made his choice! WE faced the inevitable Reality with the Evidence
before US. I'm afraid Mr. Bush will miss this opportunity
given him by PRESSING the Israeli side (which we did, too,
but let that go), and seeking to IMPRESS the fanatical Christian faction in the U.S., which we view as part of that vast Right Wing Conspiracy I spoke of several years ago!
