Deputy Chief Resigns From CIA Agency Is Said to Be in Turmoil Under New Director Goss.

The deputy director of the CIA resigned yesterday after a series of confrontations over the past week between senior operations officials and CIA Director Porter J. Goss's new chief of staff that have left the agency in turmoil, according to several current and former CIA officials.

John E. McLaughlin, a 32-year CIA veteran who was acting director for two months this summer until Goss took over, resigned after warning Goss that his top aide, former Capitol Hill staff member Patrick Murray, was treating senior officials disrespectfully and risked widespread resignations, the officials said.

The CIA is too risk adverse. Shake it up a bit. We need Rumsfeld in there...

This is the usual end result when you give some small fish some authority. It goes right to their heads. What is this charactors background in intel anyway.

> "Turmoil"

Now if it were the Washington Times reporting this,
then the story might be troubling, but any CIA news
that makes the Washington Post nervous is encouraging.

We didn't hire Porter Goss to maintain the status quo.

Apparently this McLaughlin character is one to kiss and tell.

Good riddance.

.... risked widespread resignations

And the downside of this is???????

From what I hear, it is the politicals (XLinton types) that are flocking to the door. The "disrespect" is that these guys are being called on their decisions and there are questions about "ability" being asked. Believe me, this is the best thing that could happen to the Agency in a loooong time. It kinda reminds me of the TV show "Clean Sweep" there is a Toss, Keep and sell pile. A lot of the grousers are in the "toss" category. Some of these losers still have Admiral Turner's (Stansfield) picture in their offices. These are losers with a capital "L". Next, good case officers will be promoted to the slots that aren't completely erased. It will take Goss a little time to purge the Agency of its cancer, but, we will get a better agency out of it!

Semper Fi

I am all for the country's intelligence services and I know these guys have been doing without a lot of financing. But they have to wake up. This agency has been a disaster for about 20 years.

If we lost the senior people mentioned in this story would we miss the next 9/11 any worse than we missed the last one? Unbelievable primma donnas.

What, like Priest and Pincus would ever dare run an article admitting that our government is being well led, well run, and in the best shape of their histories?!

It's always chaos this and trouble that, yet the Bush Team always manages to get everything done in the most efficient manners in spite of the Old Media's protests to the contrary.

For this article we've probably got some hardcore Lefties whining about being told to toe the line, work hard, and stay out of politics. No wonder they are mad.

Patrick Murray, was treating senior officials disrespectfully and risked widespread resignations, the officials said.

Good. They need to clean out the Clintonista/DemonRat scum infesting CIA HQ. And it would be nice if they did the same thing over at the State Dep't.

Sounds like that Dr. Jack Wheeler guy knows of what he speaks, at least when it comes to the CIA. He predicted this a few weeks ago.

This is a start. I'll be happy when there is a headline saying 'STATE DEPARTMENT IN TURMOIL'.
