MSNBC/Newsweek ^ | 11/22/04 | George F. Will

A small but significant, because articulate, sliver of the Democratic Party seems to relish interpreting the party's defeat as validation. This preening faction reasons as follows: the re-election of George W. Bush proves that 51 percent of the electorate are homophobic, gun-obsessed, economically suicidal, antiscience, theocratic dunces. Therefore to be rejected by them is to have one's intellectual and moral superiority affirmed.

Liberalism really is a mental problem. What if someone can come up with a cure?? What will they do about that??

Cuz I am sure a bunch of FReepers will put the cure into the water supply in all the blue states.

Which, of course, begs the question intellectually and morally superior how, and by what standard?

I'm the most me! I win!

Liberals have worked for generations to plant the seeds of ignorance and it is reasonable that they would believe a super majority of Americans are dumb.

They won't be so sloppy in choosing their candidate next go round.

Well, Kent, ever thought of movin' to red country?

Regrettably: the job (and subsequent pay) is too good to even consider leaving. (Damn shame, too. I grew up, toddler to post-college age, in Nashville, Tennesse; and miss the ol' stomping grounds.) :)

Liberals think Americans are as dumb as ox because they reject liberal guidance. The more educated Americans are, the angrier liberals get that they refuse to take their marching orders from Hillary, the Reverends, and Chairman McAuliffe.

Now that 85 percent are high-school graduates, 53 percent have some college education and 27 percent are college graduates, it is an article of faith among the progressive intelligentsia that the public is becoming increasingly obtuse, bigoted and superstitious.

Or consider the converse...That as the elitist left becomes more and more sheltered in its cacoon of self-delusion, the public APPEARS to become more superstitious and stupid.
