Chicago, IL (LifeNews.com) -- A Chicago Tribune columnist is catching fire for recommending that a mother take her 22-year-old daughter to an office of Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion operation.
Advice guru Amy Dickinson went so far as to suggest that the mother drive her adult daughter to Planned Parenthood and stay in the waiting room during her consultation. The daughter has a two-year-old son and recently miscarried another child.
Dickinson wrote, I think that a young woman who at 22 has already had at least one unplanned pregnancy needs to reassess her behavior -- and her birth-control method."
"Because her pregnancies have such a huge impact on you, you might want to drive her to Planned Parenthood and wait in the waiting room while she has her consult," Dickinson added. "Then you might want to take her to the drugstore and wait with her while she gets her prescription filled."
Dickinson also recommended that the young woman continue to see her boyfriend if she wished -- even though he had suggested aborting the child that she ultimately miscarried.
The columnist wrote, If your daughter is a happy, healthy, responsible mother and fully functioning adult, I'm of a mind that she should be in charge of her own sexual life.
In her letter requesting advice, the mother of the young woman had written, "Our daughter looked into adoption and even had her aunt and uncle lined up as prospective parents, but then she miscarried. Now this guy is still lurking in her life. She calls him an FWB -- friend with benefits. In my opinion, a man who doesn't want to be a father has no business seeing a woman who already has a child, let alone be a FWB and risk an additional pregnancy."
Pro-life activists have expressed exasperation in the past with advice columnists who direct women to Planned Parenthood, given the organization's track record. Abortions far outnumber adoptions at Planned Parenthood facilities.
In a column in November 2003, "Dear Abby" recommended that a young pregnant woman who professed to being "Alone and Terrified" report to Planned Parenthood for counseling without advising her parents of her pregnancy.
A number of readers questioned the wisdom of Abby's advice and she eventually devoted an entire column to rebutting pro-life objections to her advice.
One reader, Dana S. of Escondido, California, wrote, "Here in California a girl recently died because rather than going to her parents for help, she went to Planned Parenthood. Secrets should never be encouraged. Parents are the teen's best option."

So basically the girl is a ho who keeps getting knocked up without using any protection?
Hey, at least this girl was going to do the right thing and give the baby up for adoption.
Would that more "hos" followed her lead.
Yeah, basically, but she's a grown up ho, who wants to be keeping her pimp boy around. She's a losers and the mother should either lock her in the house, or sue for custody of the granchild and throw mamma ho (or whoore as they say in brooklyn) in the street.
Yet give women a free pass for murder, when THEIR choices lead to "inconvenience".
Is the left basically saying that women are unable to be responsible?
Uh... pick a lane and drive, dizbat. One minute you're telling mom to practically force her to have an abortion, but when it comes to picking losers to sleep with, well, let her make her own decisions! Uh huh.
There's another, more accurate name for that: f***buddy.
"...drive her to Planned Parenthood and wait in the waiting room while she has her consult."
Presuming this is transcribed correctly, this "wonderful" advice clearly shows that the scribe is so comfortable with the Planned Parenthood thang as to use the apparently hip term "consult" in regards to the act of "consultation".
Wow, she's really "with it".
I don't see anyone in that relationship getting benefits except for the boyfriend! But as my dear departed Daddy used to say about guys like that "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free!"
Sounds like the girl needs to get a BDG (Big Damn Grip) and show that fella the door! It sure will be better for her two year old!
Newspapers should fire her and Abby and all the rest of the butt-in-skies
Any guy who would encourage a woman to kill their baby in the womb should be dumped IMMEDIATELY. How can he respect her if he doesn't respect their own child? Let alone how can he respect her when he's just using her sexually? Lastly, parents should never be in the dark about something as serious as a pregnancy. Kids need permission to do all sorts of things, yet a parent has no right to know if their daughter is seeking an abortion? It's all so absurd.
If the young woman takes the advice of the columnist, goes to Planned Parenthood and dies as a result of the columnists' advice -- will the columnist be held responsible for the young woman's death?
No. I think in 'Abby's' world view the women is stupid if she doesn't kill the unplanned/unwanted child and being wise and encouraging to stay with her boyfriend. Of course, for someone 'Abby' feels is in charge of her own sexual lifestyle and decisions, it's very odd to suggest she has to have her mother drive her to the Abortion/Murder-Mill and stay there with her to make sure the dirty deed is indeed done. Such an illuminating discussion from someone people believe to actually have intelligence. Kind of like calling Miss Piggy a brain surgeon, non? (No insult intended to those who like pigs.)
"Reproductive Rights" is one of those public issues where the inequality between the sexes is rarely discussed.
Reproductive rights does not exist as a legal concept for men, and men are regularly told that they have responsibilities and not rights. A man has no "reproductive rights" that a woman is bound to respect, whether in nor out of marriage, to keep the baby or not. The only right that men have is to keep their pants zipped up, as the course of their lives and their hope for posterity is entirely dependent on the woman's "choice".
I remember hearing a feminazi screeching about how vital "reproductive rights " were for all human beings, insofar as their ability to determine the course of their lives is concerned. It got me to wondering how it is that no comparable "reproductive right" exists for men other than the right to keep your trousers zipped up. A man's income can involuntarily be confiscated to care for children that he does not want, affecting the course of his life. Under the law, he is utterly responsible to support any children with his DNA, and often even for those without it. In many states, women are allowed to ABANDON newborn children that they do not want at hospitals or firehouses, no questions asked. Men don't even have any "reproductive rights" in marriage, because his wife retains her "reproductive rights" if she "chooses" to exercise them.
I don't think either sex should have these "reproductive rights", and should deal with the concequences of a pregnancy, wanted or not. But if as the feminazi says, these rights are vital to human beings, than I wish to suggest the following remedies. An unmarried man, upon being promptly notified of an unwanted pregnacy by his mate, should have the option of a paternal veto (abortion) absolving him of financial and legal responsibility for the child. A married man who discovers that his wife has had an abortion against his wishes should recieve presumptive grounds for a divorce or annullment of the marriage, with the same holding true for one who concieves against his wishes.
Than again maybe the feminazi thinks that men shouldn't qualify for "reproductive rights" since she probably thinks men aren't human anyway.
