"Friends, photographers and artists ... were invited to give their visual statement against war." -imagesagainstwar.com NBC correspondent Kevin Sites, who reported on the Fallujah mosque shooting, has photographs displayed on "Images Against War", a web site devoted to "visual statement against war". A review of the site states, "Most of the great war photographers have been against war in general, and often against the particular wars they were photographing". Was Mr. Sites acting as a unbiased journalist in the mosque, or as a "artist" against war?

A well known example is Phillip Jones Griffiths, whose book 'Vietnam, Inc' was a corruscating indictment of US policy. Galerie Lichtblick in Images Against War this spring invited photographers to send pictures as a visual statement against war. Ashtabula Native Captures Footage Of Marine Killing Iraqi

The video that captured a U.S. Marine killing an Iraqi prisoner, who was reportedly unarmed, has caught the attention of the nation.
And the reporter who helped bring the story to the public is a northeast Ohio native.
Kevin Sites is a freelance reporter embedded with the Marines in Iraq (news - web sites), and he went to school in Ashtabula.
Sites is making news with his reporting, a love of which was nurtured by teachers at Sts. John and Paul High School.
Although they may be shocked by the images he captured, his former teachers are proud of his role as a journalist.
"I think the type of man Kevin is ... he's a man who would want the story to be told," said former teacher Albina Larson.
Sites graduated in 1980 but his Ashtabula school community is keeping him in their thoughts, praying that he keeps courage under fire.
The U.S. Marine involved in the incident is now under investigation.
"It will be intersting to see if this information is discussed in the MSM."
Yes, interesting and it won't happen. MSM has an axe to grind against President Bush and grind it they will (how dare he get inconveniently re-elected). Mr. Sites obvious bias will be overlooked of course.

Yes, but it was apparent from the bias he showed on interviews that he was a anti-war nut.
I am anti-war too, but that is because I fought in Vietnam. Everyone is anti-war who is not crazy. We must tolerate the brutality of war to preserve our country, when it is necessary. It is necessary now.
I am appalled at the weaklings our country produces, but this has been going on throughout its history. We had Tories during the Revolution. I think things are getting better. During Nam, there was no one to conteract the leftist propaganda. Now there is.
I don't think the marine will be found guilty of anything. However, if he is it is another case of the generals throwing the privates to the wolves for political expediency. This is what led to much of the aid and comfort to the enemy in Nam. The soldiers themselves were abused and did not trust some of their leaders.
One has to wonder what the reporter's reaction would be should he find himself at the point of a beheading knife weilded by one of these hapless victims of the conflict.
Perhaps he would like our soldiers to "Mirandize" the insurgents before taking action.
Remember, "Jihad" was THEY'RE idea.
I went to Saint's John and Paul High School in Ashtabula, class of 88 (back then it was just ST John High). I have to tell you that this guy Sites is not the norm. It was a good Catholic school that taught conservative values and ideals. "Bina" Larson who is quoted in the article saying what truthfull guy he is, is a bitter, forever single algebra teacher.

EMBEDDED REPORTERS in the invasion of a country, in which the standing army of the USA routs the standing army of a rogue nation... GOOD IDEA.
EMBEDDED REPORTERS in the assault on a city full of terrorist bandits, in which highly skilled marines and soldiers of the USA must fight house-to-house against bands of heavily armed bad guys... BAD IDEA.
Where, oh where, in all of the mighty Pentagon, is there THE WISDOM TO DISCERN THE DIFFERENCE ???
I'm pretty sure that embedded reporters are not a good idea. I positive that "anti-war" embedded reporters are not a good idea.
I'm rather new to FR. What does "bump" mean?
1. Why didn't Sites notify the Marines's command about the action and give the US Government a chance to investigate this incident before airing this video?
2. How did Al Jazeera get an uncut copy of this video? Did it come from Sites or NBC?
The answer is that Neither Sites nor NBC had any interest in supporting our government or the troops in the field. Even though they would clearly know that this type of scene would be damaging and inflammatory, they rushed to show it and to distribute that video to an enemy "news" agency.
This need to be investigated and if NBC has sponsored enemy propaganda, their FCC license to broadcast should be revoked.
