Does this boat:
(a) Have one slow speed in forward and 12 in reverse?
(b) Fly a white flag?

I've heard it is equipped with a super-secret defense against attacking killer rabbits.

jimmy carter is bound for infamy - I would not want to be a member of the crew named after a communist traitor.

Ask jimmy, to his face, how many Cuban Expatriates DIED for his love of fidel!

During the Civil War the Revenue Cutter Service had a cutter named the Jefferson Davis (the class was named for former Secretaries of the Treasure). They did not change the name for some reason.

I'm not sure which would be worse, being a northern serving on a ship (stationed in the Puget Sound) named after the President of your enemy, or a modern submariner sailing on a boat named for this idiot.

Lets hope a jinx hasn't been put on this submarine by hanging that name on it. Jimmie doesn't even deserve to have a dead end street in Plains, Georgia named after him.

The only submarine in existence that has Prozac as standard issue. It must be depressing defending your country on a Carter sub.

It's expected the Jimmy Carter will be delivered in late December '04 and commissioned in February '05,

How many Amy Carter centerfolds will be on wall locker doors? Barf Alert!

Here's to hoping that this boat blows up a few of Jimmah's friends sometime in the near future.

A warship named "Jimmy Carter"? Was "USS Pansy" already taken? What's next, nerf torpedoes?

Pity anyone who gets in the way of the USS Jimmy Carter when the next real war starts. Navy sub crews are real, brave, decent men, and that crew will be out to wipe off the shame of their ship's awful horrible pathetic name for good, and they will do it by wiping out whatever is unfortunate enough to find itself up in front of them.

"Groton — Jimmy Carter, the third and final Seawolf-class submarine that has been heavily modified for special operations, departed Electric Boat on Tuesday for the first phase of its sea trials."

Ummmmm.
Didn't the quisling forget to say something rather important, here?

...it shot outa there backwards.

With the USS George H Bush under construction at Newport News, the next carrier will be named for Bill Clinton. I have no inside information on the subject but I expect with that CV they may change the carrier naming convention back to the old system ( Langley, Wasp, Ranger, etc) or state names as the Ohios fall off the navy lists.
