Shutout celebs play Bubba Library card

Little Rock, Ark., may have a new $165 million presidential library. But the sleepy, grits-fed city barely has enough hotel rooms for the celebs who've come to pay homage to Bill Clinton.

Early yesterday, Jordan's Queen Noor was due to check into a Comfort Inn miles from the ceremonial action.

The lowly volunteer who gave up her room for the queen was planning to "knock on the door and ask her if I could have the shampoo - just so I could take a look at her."

Democratic Party planners spoiled the volunteer's dream when they saw where the queen - the former American Lisa Halaby - was booked and quickly found a room for her at the upscale Peabody Hotel.

Kevin Spacey was spotted at the Comfort Inn, but he, too, was moved in the knick of time.

Other celebs were routed directly to the Peabody, where Clinton has occupied the presidential suite. (The hotel was known as the Excelsior when Paula Jones claims that then-Gov. Clinton solicited some special room service).

U2's Bono and The Edge worked a rope line of fans before their performance at the library. Also at the Peabody (where a troop of ducks daily parades through the lobby) were Barbra Streisand, Robin Williams, Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson, Chevy Chase, Markie Post, Al Franken, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Judge Reinhold, Norman Lear, and presidential offspring Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, Anne Eisenhower, Patricia Nixon Cox, Chip Carter, Linda Johnson Robb and Lucy Johnson Turpin.

Sadly, none of them seemed likely to join for the former President for one of those late nights he used to have in the old days.

"His doctors have told him he has to go to bed early," one source tells the Daily News' Ken Bazinet.

Whew, that was close. Poor dear may have been exposed to some normal people.

Looks like the ducks have been replaced by turkeys.

I would totally pay money to see any of these people at the Comfort Inn in Little Rock!

And I wonder how many people with legitimate reservations were kicked out of the Peabody because of the Hollywood crowd???

Did the Oil for Food Program fund this library?

How did the Clinton's get the money for this library and their net worth of $30 million plus...?

The Clintons never had any money. Where did they get the money?

Cripes! Can't Jordan afford a Four Seasons?

Are you suggesting there are people who go to Little Rock of their own volition? Dubious.

As Hitlery said "this library is just like my husband...totally transparent"
P.S. The list of donors to this huge trailer is TOP SECRET and unavailable.
RUN, HILLARY, RUN!

I, too, have wondered where Clinton got the money, unless this thing is mortgaged to the hilt and/or the good people of Little Rock are dealing with a local sales tax to pay for it. Also, it costs the public $7.00 a pop to get in.

Of course, those options would be semi-legitimate. I'll bet some big Hollywood types ponied up, corporate cronies, etc. But knowing the Clintons, there is Asian money all over this...

Denise Rich, ex-plaything of tax-fraud extraodinaire Marc Rich, helped "to raise" 20 million dollars for the library while "discretely meeting" with syphilitic disgraced and impeached ex-POTUS #42 some 20 times during the course of the "collections".

Well, if there were 30,000 Kool-Aid drinkers on hand, you have to think they slept somewhere.

Asked the question because there was an interesting little ditty in the news yesterday regarding France's problem banking records and the oil for food program... Came on the heals of the first question about the library.

According to Dick Morris, every cent was raised privately. Howver, according to the rules of Presidential Library Foundations they don't have to reveal where it came from (think China, think Marc Rich) and they are completely unrestricted in what they can do with it (think slush fund). True, the Foundation has a board but Clinton can fire and replace them with anyone he chooses. And Hilary can assign the Library personnel to any extra-curricular campaign activities she pleases.

Can Hillary really do that with campaign finance reform and all? Isn't that considered illegal?

According to what I have read, presidential libraries are completely exempt from the rules governing funds, PACs, 527s, etc.

Well, no wonder the Clintons put such an effort into fundraising for this library.

Don't let appearances fool you. I've heard her interviews when she was hawking her book. Straight off the Arab League songsheet.

Exactly. No long ago they were begging for the American taxpayer to foot their overdue legal bill.

Too bad Queen Noor didn't have to bunk down at Comfort Inn after all she hasn't done for Islamic women. We were once bumped from our room in Moscow for Kissinger.
