22 year old Lance Corporal Demarkus Brown of Martinsville, Virginia was killed Friday in Iraq (Fallujah), due to enemy action.
I am very sorry to hear of this. Thank you for posting. Although I have never lived in Henry County, when I research my family's genealogy, much of it centers in this county. God bless this man.

Dear Lord, hold this fallen hero's family tightly with comfort and Your love. I pray hard for them. The hardest I know how. Lord, give his loved ones strength and courage and solace. In the name of the Lord, Amen.
I live close to Henry County (about 10 miles south in neighboring NC). I have close ties to Henry County as I visit there frequently and I have jogged on the very track where Demarkus Brown ran track at Laurel Park High School. This does hit close to home. Thanks for all your prayers and support for this fallen hero and his family.
I'm from Roanoke and all my ancestors came from the Henry and Franklin county area since before the Revolution. It would probably be difficult for me to walk through there and not meet a cousin very quickly. Prayers for this family who bravely gave one of their own to keep the rest of us safe.
Sad bump. Prayers for this young warrior who gave his all to protect his fellow Marines and his country.
This news never gets easy.
