Thankful for America

Not long ago a journalist asked me what freedoms we take for granted in America. I spend most of my time sounding the alarm about the freedoms we're losing, but this was a good opportunity to step back and consider how America is different from much of world history — and why immigrants still flock here.

If we ask how life in the United States is different from life in most of the history of the world — and still different from much of the world — a few key elements come to mind

I'm proud to live in a country other people think is heaven, even if we know what could be better about it. Dave Boaz has summed up very well the greatness of America, whatever one's philosophical bent.

The poison pill in all of this is the income tax admendment which says all of your weatlh belongs to government and you are allowed to keep any of it on governments whim alone. The solution is a balanced budget admendment that freezes spending until the income tax is no longer necessary and by way of that same admendment the income tax is then repealed.
