Fraud chief raised Justice doubts (this should be front page news)
Washington Times ^ | Nov. 24, 2004 | Jerry Seper

Posted on 11/25/2004 10:53:39 PM PST by Robert Lomax

A top immigration official accused of misleading Congress on whether a Clinton administration program was used to allow thousands of foreign nationals with criminal records to become U.S. citizens now heads a fraud and national security program at the Department of Homeland Security. Louis D. "Don" Crocetti, whose credibility before a House subcommittee was challenged by the Justice Department's Office of Inspector General, now heads the Office of Fraud Detection and National Security, which, among other things, is responsible for criminal background checks on foreign nationals seeking naturalization.

The appointment was quietly announced in May by Eduardo Aguirre, director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS), a Homeland Security agency that took over many of the functions of the now-defunct U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).

Several CIS officials questioned the Crocetti appointment, telling The Washington Times there were concerns whether he could effectively oversee fraud and national security inquiries based on his performance at the INS.

All 19 of the 9/11 terrorists were able to stay in the country by fraudulent means and now we're going to have someone with questionable credibility in charge of detecting fraud at Homeland Security. Why isn't this being reported anywhere else?

This is very odd.
The Republicans own Congress and the Executive Branch - - so how does this Clinton hack, Don Crocetti, lie to Congress and then end up getting a job as head of fraud and national security at the Department of Homeland Security in the Bush Administration?
Really weird.

Weird is one word, I can think of others for they way the conservatives in Congress are acting, along with the president with a total majority.

When the heck will Bush use his authority with the line item veto?

I suspect it's because this is the way W wants it. Why else? He's the one pushing for open borders and free flow between the entire American Continents.

So glad this is his priority rather than Conservative Judges for the Supreme Court. ~sarcasm off~

This is nuts. When it comes to safeguarding our borders, America seems suicidal.

Maybe we need to initiate a massive letter writing campaign until our elected representatives get annoyed enough to do something.

There's no such thing as a federal line-item veto.

Name two areas which have gotten the Bush administration bad press among conservatives...
Airport Security and Screening
Illegal Immigration

Name two cabinet posts of Bush's administration that have not had resignations announced
Transportation ...Mineta....airport security
Homeland Security...Ridge.....Immigration

Name a key security enforcement post in immigratuion control which you would NOT want manned by a Clinton holdover flunkie, considering the Clinton admin record on security and following the rule of law
Office of Fraud Detection and Security

I just continue to be dumbfounded. I dont get it. We have a mandate, lets use it.

This issue has come to my attention several times. It is disgusting.

The game of musical chairs takes place under both parties. They each make appointments that leave people, who actually give a damn, angry.

It's a full time job just to keep up with the name changes going on. If the I.N.S. is a failure, all that can be fixed if it's renamed and a few new policies are put in place that affect less than 1% of the overall problem.

For whatever reason, the safety of the U.S. citizen comes way down the line after other priorities have been satisfied by today's shining examples of leadership.

Thanks for the ping.

It's curious. Minetta, head of the Trans. Dept is a Clinton Holdover and strictly forbids any profiling by airlines. According to the book, "Flying Blind", several airlines have been fined for pulling out Arab questionables for review before flying.

www.house.gov
The house passed their bill with driver's license limits, border control, etc.

www.senate.gov
It is the senate who refuses to hear any border/immigration controls in the intelligence bill.

Sheesh! If the House of Representatives has the backbone to do it, why can't the senate?

Do you have the Bill Number so I can write to my illustrious senators from California and ask them to support it?

Have you been reading how screeners are now body searching selected fliers with the backs of their hands? I don't understand why thousands of innocent people have to tolerate these indignities when it's a 95% or so chance that an Arab would be the terrorist.
