TWO KEY QUOTES FROM THE ARTICLE:

"... pointed out that director Oliver Stone's Alexander the Great received funding from the French government despite not being filmed in France or in French."

"Oliver Stone's movie Alexander is French - his mother is French and he did the post-production in Paris so it's French, no problem. And this one is not French, can you believe it?"

NOT FRENCH ENOUGH? MORE LIKE, NOT ANTI-AMERICAN ENOUGH!

But a court judged it was too American to compete in French film festivals, including Cannes.

So apparently Fahrenheit 9/11 was deemed French enough to compete at Cannes. No shock there, but now they tacitly admit it.

Not enough body hair on the women. Too much body hair on the men.

Jeunet's Amelie- Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain is a wonderful and original film. Jeunet also did the much maligned Alien Resurrection that I actually thought was stylish and well done, instead of more of the same it took it in a different direction, but American audiences didn't feel the same way I guess.

I know its fashionable to bash everything French, but I do enjoy a lot of French moviemakers, past and present. Just like some of us wouldn't want to be judged by some of leaders of our government (think when Clinton was our disgraceful president) you can't judge all Frenchmen by a few of their leaders
