Terror expert: Qaida WMD attack on US likely soon
THE JERUSALEM POST ^ | 10-29-04 | Etgar Lefkovits

Posted on 11/29/2004 9:56:28 AM PST by Snapple

An al-Qaida attack on the US with non-conventional weapons is virtually "inevitable..."All of the warnings we have today indicate that a major strike – something more horrible than anything we've seen before – is all but inevitable," [Bodansky] said.

Always liked Monsoor Ijaz until I did some research and found out he was a heavy donor to Clintons and Democrats, AND that he layed out his prayer mat five times a day to bow to that hateful moon god allah.

Agreed, and sadly, just like with the Japanese in WWII, rightly so, as much as it might bother the PC crowd to say that.

A counter-terrorism guy I met moved his whole family out of the DC Metro area. He now commutes 100 miles each way. He was exhorting us to 'live our normal lives'. Right. He's not the only one saying one thing and doing another. I have literally "dug in".

Maybe he should (smile). I love these experts. He and Dick Morris should form their own disinformation company. Dick is rarely right in his predictions.

Me, too. We've been too darn NICE! Don't want to offend anyone ya know. Pooh. We should aim for Mecca and Medina and shower them with pig fat before blowing them out of the water.

Let 'em know we hold them ALL equally responsible.

Am I the only one that thinks the Prez made a quiet "deal they can't refuse" shortly after 9/11 to ME heads of state? Not one single attack of any kind on American soil since then makes me wonder. (And before you flame, the El Al and DC sniper incidents were not organized terrorism. And I also think the Antrax was a second wave of the 9/11 attacks that didn't pan out so well.)

He's as slick as Clinton, without the charisma. Just something so "ick" about Morris.

There are several points in this article that seem weak. The rationale of why there hasn't been another attack is weak, especially since we have been told that numerous attacks have been thwarted. The reason behind it -- that the Islamofascists needed to debate and resolve the ethical issues behind attacking the innocents or using unconventional weapons -- PUH-LEEZ. He expects us to believe they have ANY morality to debate? They waited 3.5 years to see who we'd vote for and thus cast ourselves on the side of their enemies? Afghanistan and Iraq and the more than 50% approval behind those wars wasn't enough to prove to them that we consider Islamofascism the enemy (especially since they attacked American interests 11 times under the watch of one of their 'friends' they made in Slick Willy)?

This guy doesn't sound too solid to me.

Maybe the Prez mailed all the ME heads of state a list of addresses which said "If your city is on this list, we trust you will treat us very carefully."

Couple things. Thing one, he mentions that AQ did not launch a second attack on US soil. Well, 9/11 WAS the second attack, the first was Feb '93, huge truck bomb in the WTC. I have read lots of "terrorism experts" who never ever mention 2/93.

Thing two, if AQ or any terror organization actually had a working WMD there would be tremendous pressure from any other terror group to steal it and use it. It would be very difficult to hang onto and keep safe from nuts more radical than whoever has it. It would be use it or lose it, I'm guessing a few months at most.

"I am related to a high level counter-terrorist expert (trust me - his credentials and experience are impeccable) that has been telling me for years about these Islamic terrorists and their hate for America. We spoke on the evening of September 10, 2001 and he indicated then that someday they would strike hard...little did we know it would be the next day."

Yeah, right. Sounds a little too dramatic for me. There were any number of sources on this topic. For every anecdote about the "insiders at DHS" or "counter terrorism guy I know" moving out of DC, there are thousands more who just keep showing up to work. Is AQ out to get us? Undoubtedly. Are people like Bodansky and Ijaz peddling scary scenarios to get media coverage? Obviously. There were any number of people calling attention to the rising tide of Islamic terror in the '90's, we just tuned them out. The nitwits among them now make ridiculous, specific claims that never seem to pan out. Wonder why. It's easy to call attention to a general trend, but difficult to identify specific outcomes. Those who do are obviously peddling another agenda, usually a book or speaking engagements.

AQ does not have a nuke, they might be trying to get a dirty bomb together, but they are pretty ineffective right now. After Spain's example, you know that nothing would have been more powerful in their minds than striking the US before our election. They didn't do it. They are impotent and stuck with the problem of false power. An encore any less terrible than 9/11 will be shrugged off by most. That leaves them with only a few options, all of which require technology and infrastructure that they are being denied.

The military is doing the work in Iraq, A'stan, and elsewhere to reduce the number of available zealots. The war is on their turf now, and they know it. Say a prayer for them and move on with your lives. Little courage, please.

This man is guessing and probably hoping what he says is the truth since it would keep us committed to the war, as if we weren't already. This doesn't mean that what he says is not true and won't come to pass since as the saying goes, "even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while"

"He cited intelligence estimates from this summer that suggest that as many as 500,000-750,000 people are willing and trained to die, 10 million are willing to actively support them, short of killing, while another 50 million are willing to support such a movement financially"

Intelligence sources? Did the commission a phone poll and ask the people in the M.E. if they were committed to terrorism and how would they plan on helping out?

Intelligence organizations probably commission polls and casually converse with people and ask the questions.

Personally, I think Bodansky's purpose is to make sure that we don't get overconfident.

I would be most concerned about these three cities being attacked.

1. Dallas, TX: Near Mexican border. Biggest city in Texas (Bush heartland). And oddly enough, Dallas has name recognition with the world's people from the global telecasts of the 1980's TV program.
2. Austin, TX: Near Mexican Border. Capital of Texas.
3. Cincinnati, OH: Republican area of key swing state in 2004 election.

"Mecca and Medina need to be glowing pits within 12 hours.

According to some, this is the silver bullet in defeating Islam. Can't recall my source, but I heard it stated that the Q'uran promises Mecca/Median will always exist (like the New Jerusalem). If they were to be destroyed, Islam would deflate like a popover.

Anybody know a bit about Islam & the Q'uran?
