Bloggers trying to fan a recount bonfire in Ohio have discovered a new link on the Kerry campaign website seeking contributions for a "General Election Legal and Accounting Compliance (aka Recount) Fund." Unfortunately, the link is nothing new, having been in place for weeks, a discovery that somewhat deflated hopes that Mr. Kerry will suddenly change course and formally contest the election results in Ohio. His absence from any lawsuit is the big hole in the legal effort to force a recount in the state.
There's no question, though, that there's a market out there for election-theft conspiracy theories, and a willingness to follow up with donations to groups that are to pay lip service to the conspiracy theories. Thus the People for the American Way has in Cleveland to resurrect 8,099 provisional ballots filed by voters who didn't fill them out properly or submitted them in the wrong precincts. Attorney Cliff Arnebeck, representing the activist groups Ohio Common Cause and the Alliance for Democracy, is also planning to file a lawsuit on Wednesday in the Ohio Supreme Court seeking a statewide recount on various grounds. Meanwhile, the national and state Democratic Parties continue to be committed to the artful straddle, lending subtle encouragement to the crazies while trying not to look pathetic in light of a national majority for George Bush.

There's a market out there for those desperate enough to pander to it. All you need is a decent ability to feign rage, lie with a straight face, and toss any shreds of integrity that might remain in your professional life.
Let's call it what it is.....
I am thinking of starting a new group called the Ohio Voters For Truth. It only purpose will be to collect donations from Koolaid drinking demonrats. We will have a professional looking website and send out an email newsletter disclosing all of the ways we caught Bush cheating.
These people are so stupid, I think I can make enough money to retire, at least for a couple of years.
Keith's political opinions are almost as valuable as his hockey opinions were.
While you are "thinking of starting a new group..." others have been busy since election night sucking up all the money the Koolaid drinkers can spare. Now that Jesse Jackson has gotten in on the scam, you are way too late!
Then recount Wisconsin while they are at it. Wait, that is where the Rats "stole the election". I guess Je$$e will not be marching there.
When you're dealing with morons like this, there is always room for another advocacy group. They are so gulible they will believe anything.
I watched Oberman tonight. I think it's called the Countdown Show. I flipped over there because the DUers have gone ape over him and I wanted to see what kind of junk he was spewing over Ohio.
He had the Secretary of State of Ohio on at about 40 minutes after the hour. Don't miss it if you want to see Oberman read the riot act! Oberman said very little, just a few conspiratorial, leading questions. The SOS pick up the ball, and batted it out of the park.
He essentially said the following:
Once the vote count is finished, there is a 5 day period to ask for a re-count. He is quite sure there will be such an official request. Remember, no such request can occur until after the count is completed, which is 12-1-04 I think.
He WILL NOT attempt to block a re-count. In fact it's his duty to do one if they pay the required money, which they have ready to give to the state.
His whole demeanor was one of absolute confidence in the system in Ohio.
He DID NOT meet with GWB on or immediately after 11-2. This in response to a nutty question by Oberman.
HERE IS THE CAPPER. He said that since it appears to be only 2 minority candidates who are officially going to be on the paperwork to request the re-count, Kerry has no standing in this matter! The inference was that even IF Kerry got more votes as a result of the recount (not going to happen), since he is not part of this, they wouldn't count. I'm posting this part because if I saw that, the Kerry team knows it too.
All in all a good 'interview'. Oberman sat very quietly as he got his clock cleaned.
